Default Two Year Surgiversary--Loving My Sleeved Life

So admittedly I am late on this post. I hit my 2 year surgiversary on the 3rd of November. Holy crap. Two years. Has it really been two whole years since my surgery? Have I really been in maintenance for over a year? Wow. It feels like just yesterday I was hearing an ad on the radio for sleeve surgery. I kept hearing it and trying to get the courage to call and schedule an appointment. Why was I so afraid to make the call? My sister had the sleeve 5 years before me and my dad had bypass in 89. Maybe it was because I was ashamed to get to that point. But I called, with my heart pounding in my throat, and made my consult. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!!!
And while the process was long to get from start to finish through insurance (7 months), it was totally worth the ride. My surgeon and his office was top notch. I absolutely adored them. Every visit pre and post op was always enjoyable. Never felt like they were in it just for the money but that they were always invested in my success.
I continue to work out and am loving all the changes in my body. Strength training is my holy grail and key to my fabulous transformation. I do run as well but not as much as I did last year. Mostly I do a little jog between my strength training reps and then either jog or speed walk a few miles on my rest day from strength training.
I eat pretty much what I want. I do mostly make healthy choices, though. But I do not deny myself. When I do have get togethers with friends I do drink. I do eat sweets sometimes in small quantities. It takes me a full week to eat a small mini bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and usually I do not even finish it. That used to be scarfed down in one sitting. LOL. My how things have changed. I love the new me. I love how mindful I have become about what I eat and making time to work out. If I know I have to change my schedule at work to accommodate appointments or school stuff for my kids I always reevaluate when I need to workout. Because ultimately I am only hurting myself if I start to slack. If I need rest I do take it. But mostly I find that working out gives me loads more energy.
I now thoroughly enjoy shopping for clothes. No longer frustrated by my reflection. Last weekend there was a community yard sale in my subdivision and I bought a piece of gym equipment for my home gym and I was so happy like I won the lottery. LOL. Oh how things have changed.
The biggest key to my success in maintenance has been weighing regularly and working out. It makes it easy to make changes if I start to see any weight creeping. Better to take action at 5 lbs than 50.
Attaching a few pics doing my favorite thing...working out. LOL.

My new gym equipment find from a yard sale!!

And a fat one because what good is an anniversary post without remembering how far we've come?? Admittedly it was hard to find a picture as I was always hiding behind the kids or cropping away my fat body.

Congratulations on your 2 year surgiversary!
Love this post especially this part......"I love the new me. I love how mindful I have become about what I eat and making time to work out."
I think a lot of us can relate to finally taking control of our lives and putting ourselves first (usually!).
    Well done you :-)

Yes. I think it is so important to start to listen to your body as to what it needs but most importantly to prioritize ourselves. Most of us put ourselves on the back burner and took car of everyone else. No more. I have learned to be selfish and I am proud of that fact.

English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Awww thanks. Yeah the two years has gone by so fast. The time leading up to surgery to get approval seemed to drag by. It has been a wild ride and I love my sleeved life. I am so glad that I took this leap and got sleeved. My life is exponentially better because of it.
