Default newbie, 2 days post op

    Hello everyone!

I am new to this forum, although I have been seeking around here a little before I decided for surgery. I had my surgery done two days ago, in a private hospital, self-pay. I am very happy with the hospital, my surgeons, and the follow-up so far.

Surgery day was awful for me. I woke up with pain, dizziness and nausea - and it took a while to find the right combination of drugs. I slept most of the day, and had Iv-fluids to keep me hydrated. But waking up day1 was fantastic. I felt ok, and I even managed to get down som fluids on my own, although it needs to be slow, a lot slower than I thought.

I now I am up for a ride, and hope I can have som support here in this forum, but also be a supporter to you.
I have no idea at what weight i will end up with, and it seems very dreamy and odd that i will get thin in a while. It is hard to realize it is now my turn.

    My BMI was 40.8 on surgery date (118 kg/260 lbs - 170 cm - 5.57 f)

    Welcome Nelly.
This is a great place for support and advise - receiving and giving :-)
This is such an exciting time.
I still find it such a thrill to catch a glance in the mirror and realise that I am finally a "normal" size - and clothes shopping is such fun......not to mention how much healthier and happier I am.
    You will do just great.

Welcome, sounds like you are off to a great start! Rest a lot this first week, I remember sleeping so much. Then concentrate on sipping to get in your liquids and protein drinks. And if you feel up to it, start taking little walks.

Welcome Nelly. Congrats on your new sleeve. It is such a wonderful tool. I know I had a similar post op. When I woke up I was in pain and dry heaving thinking what did I do?? But they drugged me up, I slept off and on and when I got up I was pretty much fine. Everything from there was pretty much a breeze. Only real issue was constipation. I finally got that in check with my daily High Potency Magnesium 400 mg. Excited to watch you on your journey!

Thanky you for your kind replies!

I am now PO day 8 - and doing a lot better. Glad to hear about you post-op experiences.
@wattek58: I was only hospitalized overnight. so I got him about 30 hours after the surgery. I live fairly close to the hospital, and they have followed up with 2-3 phone calls.
