    Default Medication to prevent gallstones

I am 1 week away from surgery and received my prescriptions for post-op. I was sent blood thinner injections and meds for nausea.
I was expecting meds for gallstone prevention (Actigall, Ursodiol) but did not get them. My doctor said that they don't believe the risk is worth the side effects.
Do you receive meds for gallstone prevention? Did you need to eventually have gallbladder surgery?

I never had meds for gallstones and have never had any gallbladder issues after 5 years. I never had or needed nausea meds either, I was lucky. I did have those blood thinner injections and a prescription for acid reflux that I took for just the first month. My doctor puts everyone on that as a preventative measure.

No meds here either and no gall bladder issues - 14 months out.
No blood thinner injection or medication but did have the acid reflux and anti nausea meds. Only took the reflux for a little while, didn't need the anti nausea and I haven't had any issues.

I didn’t have any meds other than a mild pain reliever. I took my diabetes meds with me but never took them. Doc told me I didn’t need them anymore so I quit taking them all together. Gallbladder never came up in discussion before or since my surgery back in August.

The risk of needing your gall bladder out after sleeve surgery is only about 25% so a lot of the time they don't do anything preventative... in Australia anyway :-)

    Same in Europe.
    Only when the need occurs.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Gallstones/gallbladder surgery was never mentioned with my surgeon. I am a little over a year out and have not had any issues.
