    Default Nausea After eating

I’m new to all of this still. I had surgery 10/18. I’m on soft foods. I could do regular food next week, but I may hold off longer. I don’t know if I am eating too much, but I feel like throwing up after eating. Like for dinner I had cottage cheese. I had maybe 5 small bites. Then I felt gross and had to take medicine. This is the third day of this. Any suggestions? Should I just have like two bites and wait 30 minutes and another few bites? I can’t imagine eating solid foods. I know it’s learning to eat again I’m just struggeling. I don’t even want to eat at this point.

are you drinking enough water?, also why not go back to smoothies or shakes for a week, everyone heals differently and maybe your new stomach just needs some extra time. I have my surgery on 4th Dec., but the knowledge from this site is wonderful, and I hope it helps

I had a fair bit of nausea at first and took ondensatron (an anti nausea drug fairly frequently) it did all settle in the end. Just go very slow and keep up your hydration :-)

My suggestion would be to eat really slowly. Like try one bite, wait a while to see how you feel, and then try another.

Sorry this is happening, it is only temporary. Your tummy is getting used to food all over again after liquids only for quite a while. Good luck! It's worth it, believe me.

I had a full week of just full liquids, then puree, then smooshy and then real food. And about 2 baby spoons (II mean, literally the spoons we use for babies) at a time with a 10-15 min pause between. If you are throwing up, be sure you are getting your liquids in

Ah yes. I had to eat just a couple of bites. Took me quite a while to eat. Just go slow and have a couple of bites. Give your tummy time to register what you ate. I know that even at about a month or two post op it took me a full half hour to eat a Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt and often it would make my tummy hurt so I could not even eat the whole thing. It takes a while to be able to eat more than a few bites.

Sorry this is happening to you. It can't be much fun.
Your stomach has been through a lot with the surgery and is getting used to it's new size.
Good idea to listen to your body. If you don't feel ready for normal foods then hold off a while.
Little amounts with a rest in between might be helpful.
To start with I used to just have a tiny bit of whatever I was eating on the tip of a teaspoon and over half an hour would probably only have a one teaspoonful.
Keeping up your fluids is important so outside of meal times try and sip as much and as often as you can.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

I didn't have horrible nausea, but I would recommend eating slowly. Very, very slowly. Also, find which foods work for you. I know in the month after surgery, hot foods did better than cold. Just keep testing different foods and something will work eventually.

    Good luck!
