Default 1 month out! eating a lot?

Haven't posted on here in a month!

I am 20 kilos down (10 Post op) (10 first 2 weeks) and now I am at a stall. I am not too worried about the stall, what I am worried about is the fact I am constantly eating a lot?

I can eat a full bag of vege chips in one sitting, I find myself eating an entire drumstick with mash potatoes and veggies, I can eat ice cream with no problem. I have not found 1 food I can't eat thats no problem.

Should I consult with my doctor about this because apparently I am suppose to be eating a quarter of what I am now?

    Really????
    when were you sleeved?

I have no idea how you can do that!

Maybe someone on here may have some answers for you.

I am puzzled by what you are saying.

I would find that impossible even now at 8 months. I mean, I simply would not be able to breathe or swallow that amount of food even now, but everyone is different!
You are not feeling any restriction?

Ice cream is not going to be helpful at all.

I would also ditch the mash! and the veggie chips!

Try chicken breast then vegetables- broccoli, spinach, kale. salad.

I would be asking my team some questions.

But look at what you are eating too!Think it might be your choices of food to eat, not having a go at you just wondering if you switch things around you may find your restriction comes into play!

    Let us know what happens.

    What do you think?

I am just wondering why one would do that?
Why did you want the operation?

Did you not get a binder of some sort whit your post op diet?
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Yeahhh, ditch those veg chips, they are as bad as normal chips, In fact you probs might as well have normal chips. mash... dangerous territory if you love mash, I mean I love mash and could eat a fair bit given the chance so I don't. Chicken, that's alright. Ice cream!!! Are you shitting me? I mean eat what you want but there is no better weight gainer than ice cream so you would have to be pretty careful portion wise. It doesn't say in your profile how far out you are but yes I would make an appointment with your doc stat and get some guidance.

That is weird, to eat that much so early on. Do you know what bougie size was used during your surgery?

Also...how long does it take you to eat that much? your meal shouldn't be more than 20 mns long...and eating a whole drumstick...at that stage I was eating may 1/3 of that and nothing else.

protein, then veggies, then little carb...that's what works for most of us. I was really careful with my diet and it took me 2 years to reach my doctor's prediction. So you should enjoy your honey moon period and try to stay focused on eating healthy....because believe me after the first year you can eat more and then it will be more difficult to lose.

    Good luck!

I think "slider" foods, like the chips and mashed potatoes are not a great choice with the sleeve. They keep you from doing the protein and high nutrient vegetables you should be doing.

The sleeve is a tool, not a solution. You have to change your eating habits to have it work for you long term. So it sounds like you have a choice. sraebaer has posted some good things about eating post sleeve.

And at a year out, I cannot fathom eating that quantity. The denser protein and high value vegetable carbs will fill you up more quickly with more nutrients and less food.

I'm 6.5 years out and can't eat that much still. Ice cream? NO! Mashed potatoes? Why? In addition to the amount you're eating why are you eating that stuff at all? I didn't eat a bite of ice cream for 6 months and still rarely eat mashed potatoes

I only have a few foods that don't sit well. And those are carbs. I would go back to what the diet should be and hopefully you'll start losing again.

Seems like a lot as it looks like you are saying you are a month post op. But foods like chips (even veggie), ice cream, and mashed potatoes are all slider foods so you can eat more of those. As for a whole drum stick and veggies....seems like a lot for one month. I am almost 2 years out and that would fill me up. I would talk to my surgeon. Also, I would ditch the junk food. You are only sabotaging yourself.

    sorry should of mentioned this!

The foods I am eating are healthy the so called Ice-cream is mashed fruit and water, frozen to a constancy of ice cream

I am now 6 weeks post op.

I usually just live of grilled chicken and veggies or a nice healthy salad (usually tomato, lettuce, grilled chicken, avocado).

the vege chips are usually as just a treat, mash potato's I have once in a blue moon.

I can even get down a protein shake in the morning with no problems.

Also on that note, the only carbs I try and consume are multigrain criskuts, I can usually finish 2 no problems with some lite Philadelphia and tomato or just Vegemite (no butter)

You are not eating the right things. Weren't you given a list of foods to start and when? If not, here is my list. If you concentrate on protein first, then veggies, you shouldn't be hungry. There is not room for mashed potatoes or chips at this point. Even after 5 years I rarely eat mashed potatoes or chips. And no way would I eat ice cream, that's a recipe for disaster. (Maybe some people could eat it without gaining, but not me). Quit the ice cream and any other junk food.

Last night we went out for dinner and I had two chicken wings off my husband's plate. Then I ate the celery. It was delicious. I was totally satisfied, and it's been five years since surgery.

I paid thousand of dollars of my own money for this surgery, you had better bet I followed every rule, lost my weight, and kept it off.

It's the type of foods you're choosing and you're walking a slippery slope adding those types of foods this early on in the journey. Did your surgery center give you guidelines, because if so, I'm sure the chips, mashed potatoes and ice cream aren't included on there anywhere. You've seemed to give yourself permission to eat like you did before surgery. Take a minute, write down what you eat, look at it and think "Is this why I'm not losing". Mindful eating is very important and the beginning stages are the most important to begin to alter the healthy lifestyle you need to lose and maintain the loss. You need to "recalibrate." Everyone has said the same type of thing, so read, listen and adhere to the beginning stages; even go back to the pre op diet to "get back on track." Good luck!
