Anyone have esophagitis before surgery and do well after surgery?

I had my endoscopy done and he found moderate severe esophagitis with mild redness of the bottom 3rd esophagus. I was wondering how many people had been diagnosed with esophagitis prior to having the sleeve and was okay after having the surgery.

I wonder what caused it?
Was it reflux?

I'm not sure. They found a mild hiatal hernia and I am going to my GI to have two more tests performed. I don't have any symptoms though.
