Default Revising from sleeve to bypass...

I haven't lost the amount of weight I was hoping with the sleeve, I also developed severe acid reflux. So I will be revising in December. Anyone else revised? or going to?
I had my sleeve at 19 and would do it all over again

Did you get help your binge eating problem?
Because with binge eating the sleeve is a better option than the bypass.
I am afraid that without psychological help the bypass will not help you either.
The last time you posted there was nothing physically wrong with your sleeve, how is that now?

I am in therapy for my eating, and was cleared by the surgeons psychiatrist for bypass. I have also had an updated endoscopy that confirms I had a stomach ulcer because of the reflux.

Can I ask what you mean about "the gastric sleeve is better for binge eating?" I'm having the sleeve done in Jan and think I have binge eating disorder. Thanks!

I have a lot to lose and am having surgery in Jan to have the sleeve. My Dr encouraged me to do the dueonal switch. Maybe he thinks I will not be successful with the sleeve? Can I ask why the sleeve is not working for you? Thanks! Good luck!

The working of the sleeve is based on the restriction, the small amount of food it can accommodate in one session.
"Binge eaters" are used to eating a lot in one sitting, and not much in between meals.
Therefore the sleeve works very good.

"Grazing" is another type of eating: eating all day long and always looking for something to snack on.
Here the restriction is not enough, so besides the restriction, there is also the malnutrition with the bypass.
It is possible with the sleeve to eat all day, small bites.
So the sleeve would not be the best help in this case.

Thank you for explaining that for me. I tend to eat normal until after dinner and eat all evening. Not sure, but u thunk it's being eating? Maybe grazing? I plan to seek therapy to help me cope and change my behavior.

I think that is a very good idea!
As is said: only you stomach is operated on, not your head.

You can still have cravings and eat everything you want all day long, only smaller portions.
And then it is almost impossible to maintain your weight loss, or get as much off as you would like or want.
First make sure you understand the concepts of healthy eating and make that a priority and a routine.

    You'll do fine!

I've had multiple endos done - 2 hernias repaired but nothing to be done about the ulcer or so they tell me. My surgeon did tell me the only way to get rid of the acid reflux issues that I started getting around a year ago (my sleeve was in 2012 and didn't start with the mind numbing painful reflux till a year ago) was to get the full bypass but he doesn't really want to do that on me since I don't need to lose anymore. He's fixed the hernias and that seemed to have helped a bit but for now I just live with the reflux I still have.

This was not new information to me, but it really resonated with me. I can't eat much at a sitting (I am 3.5 years out)...but I sure can graze. I grazed my way back up 30 pounds. Reading this hit home. Instead of grazing I am going to try reaching for my water. I don't eat a lot. I still can't do that....but I can get popcorn down easily!
Thanks for the post. It really helped me out.
I wish you all the best of luck.

Rebecca, best wishes to you, young lady, with your revision. I've wondered how you were doing. For y'all who don't know Rebecca, she's a very young person -- are you 20 yet, Rebecca?

    Anyway, good luck!
