I am 2 years out from Gastric Sleeve surgery. I am gaining weight back and very discouraged. Looking for support
I'll copy-paste my answer in your other posting:
Hi!
I am not gaining back, but one thing I do know: being disappointed in yourself and beating yourself up does not help.
Find out what went wrong and be honest about that, at least to yourself.
Then you can tackle the problem.
We are only human and mistakes are made.
It is up to us to correct them.
You can do this!
What do you think happened?
How much did you gain back?
What are you eating?
It is hard to help you, when you don't tell us the specifics.
I have gained 18 pounds. I got my dream job about a year after surgery. The problem is it is stationary, where my job before I was walking over 10 miles a day. To be honest, I am not following the diet at all. I am stress eating, usually it is sweets. I am finding that my old habits are becoming new habits again.
About your desk job, here is a great post from Ann2, on how to sneak in 10.00 steps a day, even with a des job: https://www.gastricsleeve.com/forum/...ad.php?t=67697
As for the rest: I am sure you know exactly what to do... stop eating sweets, they will only make you crave more and more.
Proteins first, then veggies and fruit.
And you will have to find another way to deal with the stress in your life, because there will always be something to stress about.
That's life.
But you have done it before, you can do this again!
You can totally do this!
Just keep posting here, we are here to help you with all your questions and we will be cheering you on along the way.
The good news is you realize there is a problem and you are owning it. Also you have only gained 18 lbs so that is manageable. Go back to filling up on solid proteins and veggies first. You are going to have to kick the sweets habits. Remember why you did this. You can get back on track.
Well done on recognising that there is a little issue and deciding to do something about it.
You can totally get rid of that pesky 18 pounds. You know what to do.
I also have a desk based job and at break times I try and go for a quick 5 minute stroll - outside if I can. I also walk to the printer that is further away from my desk. I worked out that it adds an extra 100 steps every time I do it. Every little bit helps.
Let us know how you are progressing please.
18 pounds it totally doable. Just go back how you were taught to eat in the beginning, protein first, then veggies, then good carbs with room. Cut the junk. Don't drink with meals. Take your vitamins. Exercise!
You just have to commit, and I know you will lose the weight. No excuses, you don't want 18 to turn into 30 and so on. Get back on track TODAY.
