    Default OCC - calibration tube

Does anyone know if the use of the calibration tube is standard practice for all sleeve surgeries? Thanks!

Yes, a bougie. Thank you. Other than the TJC Int'l accreditation and Bariatric Center of Excellence features (which are big in my opinion) I'm trying to see what differences there are between them and other surgeons.

Can't help you there, but the bougie is used in all the laparoscopic sleeve procedures.
The size of the bougie may vary from surgeon to surgeon.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Finding the right surgeon is tricky : it took me a few months before being sure.
    I looked for several things:
    - the number of surgeries, my surgeon, the first time we met, had more than 2000 under his belt
-the hospital must have an ICU, since I was morbidly obese and with several health issues, it was the only way for me
    - if it will be easy to have follow up post-ops

Don't hesitate to ask questions during the first appointment. I was really worried about a few details (the size of the bougie used was one of them). My surgeon explained that he used a "standard" size because if the bougie is too small, of course the result will be better because the restriction will be higher, but the risks are also much much higher...leaks often happen when a small bougie is used.

What made me trust my surgeon was his ability to understand that I needed answers. And I had a lot of questions. He was patient and understanding, after the first two visits I knew he was my best choice.
