    Default Brand-y spanking new

    Greetings and salutations!
This looks like a good place to get encouragement and talk about what's going on in my journey. I'm scheduled for Gastric Sleeve on Wednesday, 24 October.

Starting weight was a hefty 309 Lbs (looks really bad, doesn't it?). Been doing the meal replacement shakes since the 10th. Have no idea how much I weigh right now (tomorrow is pre-surgical testing, so I'll have a better idea of how much I've lost) but I feel better. In fact, I feel great. No hunger pains, no feeling like I'm missing out on chewing, the pain in my hips is lessening a little bit and I'm really sort of looking forward to my surgery next week.

I just need some reassurance that this is the right move that I'm moving out of my comfort zone for the right reasons.

I can only speak personally, and it's the best thing I've ever done for my health and lifestyle. I wouldn't change a thing having the surgery sooner than waiting till I was 61. I feel better and my health is significantly improved. It's only a tool but one that's so powerful that if you put the work into making changes; it will work wonderfully the rest of your life (which might be longer after surgery)
Lots of positive self talk, self motivation and discipline will be great assets to your program. It's a learning curve, but a wonderful opportunity to improve all aspects of life; personally speaking.

Continued success and welcome to the "Losers' Bench"!

You are off to a great start! It is totally the right move if you want to be a healthy, regular-sized person. This surgery took me beyond my wildest dreams. Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro next summer, off to hike Sicily Friday. Get excited!

Welcome Maureen. I really, really love my sleeved life. I just regret not doing it sooner. I have my life back. I am so much happier and healthier now. I learned to love myself again. This surgery rocks!

Thanks for the support. Really, much needed.

Can I ask how long it took you to get to your target weight and how you've managed to keep it there?

It took me about 11 months to lose all my weight. Now 7 years later, still holding strong except for the pesky 5 pounds that I play with up & down, but that's my fault. Weekends are becoming a "free time" from my regime and that's not good. You'll do great, use all the dedication, diligence and determination you can to get to where you want then use it again to stay there Easier said than done, but doable personally speaking from a senior citizen, soon to be 69 year old, who could never keep weight off previously.
