    Default Hartford 1/2 Marathon 2018!!!

    Greetings fellow sleevers!

    What a great time.

Ran the 2018 Hartford Half Marathon on Saturday and had an awesome run! Our bodies can do amazing things!

I totally made up for my dismal 1/2 marathon run in my 1/2 Iron Distance 70.3 triathlon a month ago.

1:46:47 for 13.1 miles. I felt great the entire run and really picked up my pace for the last 2 miles and was passing tons of people. Felt great knowing I ran 8:05 pace!

Couple of photos! It was brutally cold, and it rained for the entire race. I didn't really notice how cold I was until the last mile or so and then really at the finish. The finish picture shows how run down I felt from the cold. Luckily my awesome wife had dry clothes for me so I survived!

I did however turn the pellet stove at home on full blast when I got home!

    LOVE MY SLEEVE!

With my kiddos before the start!

In the Corral for the seeded runners! Can't believe they treat me like an actual runner! Lined up right near the 8 minute mile sign (my goal for the race).

    IMG_8182.JPG

Right after finishing! I was really cold here. My hands did not work for about 45 minutes after the race. Thank god for my wife having some dry clothes for me.

Last pose with the kiddos in front of the Arch in Bushnell Park, Hartford!

This would have killed me 2 years ago! Can't believe how much fun I have running. I think I had a smile on my face most of the race!

    GET OUT AND RUN!!!!!!!!
    LOVING MY NEW LIFE!!!!

Glenn, fabulous photos! And if I were being chased by something scary, I too could run, lol.
I used to do cross-country in HS and college. But at 66 with vertigo I keep a slow and steady pace. Love the family pictures. Isn't that part of why we do this, to have the best & most time with them and ourself!

Congratulations on an amazing day. (My sister in law lives in Rocky Hill (?))

Thanks! Prior to my weight loss I hated (no, loathed) running. I actually thought people who ran were just down right odd.....

I never in a million years thought I would be able to run more than 5 miles.....

I hope it motivates them to get out and do stuff that is physically demanding. I worry about my kids though, they come from me and will likely share my food issues.

That said I get them out and active now everyday! My son cringes when I say the word "backpacking".......

    Thanks!

Slow and steady pace is still out there doing it! Love outdoor activities with my kids now that I'm thin and not sweating profusely, panting, and having to take a rest stop every 5 minutes.

Rocky Hill is just down the road!

Glenn you know I can't let you have all the attention!

Actually seriously you're an inspiration. I started running again this weekend. Did my 4th run in 6 days tonight. Each run is getting a but longer. Tonight I did 2.13 miles nonstop. I'm a ways away from doing
A half marathon but I will be ready for a 5k Turkey trot on Thanksgiving.

I want to work up mileage to 4 mile's first then I'll start working on speed.

My Turkey trot goal is simple.
Finish. Run the entire distance. Don't come in last.

    When that's done I'll start training for a 10k.

    😀
