Very slow weight loss only 10 lbs in 5 weeks now a stall .I'm 57 postmenopausal. Getting in all water protein.Worried this isn't working
What about your activity level? The days I'm sitting at my desk vs the days Im running around at work are very drastic. Its a mental game some times to get up and move, lord knows I struggle with it. But that makes a difference.
Stick with it! You got this!
Hi, welcome here.
Really?
You consider 10 pounds in 5 weeks slow?
I lost less than that in the first 5 weeks.
And it worked out pretty good over all, as you can see.
Don't worry, everything will be fine.
The stall is annoying, but normal.
Just hang in there, follow the rules and those pounds will drop.
Really.
And fyi, I was 63 when I had my sleeve done, so very, very postmenopausal.
I know exactly what you mean.
In this case: ignore your doctor.
You will do great!
Just wait and see.
But really, I think 10 lbs in 5 weeks is great!
You're doing wonderfully! Everyone's body is different and it does strive for balance - so when things are changing, it tries to stabilize. I found measuringmy inches and pounds helped. When the scales didn't move, the tape measure did!
You'll be find. And your doctor is being dense.
Take a look at my monthly losses below my post...I was 34 years old at the time I was sleeved. Yep...virtually all months resulted in a single-digit loss.
Hang in there. You're doing well.

Take a look at my signature block. What you'll see is that in Month 1 post-op I lost 11 pounds. But that's mostly due to the fact that I had a second surgery at the end of Month 1 (my gall bladder was taken out). That second surgery also "sped up" my Month 2 weight loss -- a big whopping 12 pounds.
But then things really slowed down. As you look on down my monthly weight losses, you'll see what's a pretty typical weight loss pattern for someone who had 100 pounds to lose. Didn't bother me at all that I was a "slow" loser. Truth is, I was a typical loser for someone who was 68 years old at the time of WLS.
What matters is that I lost all my excess weight and that I have kept ALL my weight loss OFF! That's all that matters for you, too.
You're doing fine. Best wishes for continuing to do fine.

You're doing just fine with your weight loss. Hell we all wanted to go into surgery and wake up completely done with the weight loss, wearing new skinny jeans, hair and makeup perfect, but we didn't.
I was a slow loser and that was the best thing for me. I got to practice over and over chewing slow, measuring my food, findng new favorite foods low in fat. As you go through the weight loss process think about the changes you're making. Those changes are the things that will sustain you once the weight is off. It tooke me 16 months to lose 103 pounds. Everylittle improvement I made in cooking, eating out, and exercise I still do today. The slower you lose the better you are at reinforcing good habits.
Menopause, use any hot flashes to burn those fat cells up. If you have cravings, walk them off. 5-10 minutes of walking in place can eliminate a craving or at least give you time to decide if you really need to eat, and how long you'll have to exercise to zero out the calorie cost.
Don't let the doctor's comments get in your way. Weight loss isn't one size fits all.
You are doing just great. Everyone loses at different rates. The thing to concentrate on is that you ARE losing! :-)
Stalls will happen and they are blimmen frustrating but as long as you are following the plan you will be just fine.
Moving certainly helps. I walk for 45-60 mins most days. I also walk up stairs rather than take the elevator, I walk to the furthest printer in the office to get my printing and I park in the far corner of the supermarket car park. Every little bit helps.
You will be just fine.
I think we all felt very much the same way, but you're doing very well and as long as you follow the program; you'll continue to lose at the rate your body needs. Fitness will increase the loss, energy and toning so it's a great tool to add for success!
Continued success!!
