    Default Nervous

Hi all! I’m scheduled to have my surgery on Tuesday October 16th with Dr. Almanza. I will be traveling alone to San Diego Monday. I am a bit nervous. I’ve been on a pre op liquid diet since Monday. I’ve lost 8 pounds. I’ve been working out and have read several suggestions on what to bring with me. I’m curious about what they give you to eat while there. Also do you have to share hotel or/and hospital rooms with others? For those who had surgery not long ago, what’s the average weight lost in the first month? First two months? And within the third month? Thanks

I can comment on what to bring...I almost didnt believe everyone when they said #1 thing chapstick! It was the first thing I asked for since I couldn't wet my whistle. Its such a relief. After that the first day is really just sleeping and walking. Oh yes, they are quick to get you up and moving. They gave me the socks with the non slip grippers on them. Mandatory when walking. Day 2 and 3 you get up and move but thats all you want to do. I live to knit and I didnt even want to do that.

Good luck to you. You'll do great!

I am sure it varies from place to place.

I had my own room and private shower and bathroom, I rang them just before I travelled to ask about the room, Can you call them to ask?

I took dresses with me kaftan type you know floaty and long (I was there for a week)

I took baby wipes moisturiser washed using baby wipes and a lip salve! I took foam surgery lollies from the chemist that I dipped in water to clean and hydrate my mouth. I highly recommend them!

I took a cardigan and a shawl, socks and shoes that I could slip on.
Hairbrush toothpaste and brush deodarant. Dry shampoo my hair is always greasy after surgery.
My ipad and phone and I downloaded movies in advance to watch I even took a dongle so I had stable internet connection.

So I was cool in the dresses and had socks for my feet if I felt chilly and It was great.

Everyones loss is different I lost 12 Kg in a month.
Then 2 weeks nothing. Then the second month I lost another 3Kgat 3 months a total of 19 KG.

They gave me water and fruit juice to begin with then chicken flavoured water and fruit flavoured water.

    Nothing else!
    Your tummy needs to heal!

    Good Luck.

I was only 10 minutes from home, so no practical advice. But best thoughts & prayers for a great experience on your way to good health.
