[QUOTE=AnnieG;601611]Sharon, what a fabulous post! You and Ann2 keep me honest! I agree about whining (although plead guilty but in my defense, it is NOT a little hair its a monk's bald spot, lol).

I you have a bald spot, please whine. Is it getting better? It is very rare people lose that much hair, you must be special!

Don’t know what to say that hasn’t been said already. You are a good example of living sleeved in a non sleeved world.

I have no doubt that you’ll live the rest of your days as fit and active as you are now.

I read this as I was shoving fajitas down my gob. Damn near choked from laughing. I can almost eat anything I want without gaining. Unfortunately, pizza, my all time favorite next to cookies, gets me every time. I'm currently sitting at a 4 pound gain after eating a whole large "the works" pizza over the weekend. I wonder if I would have been more compliant to the rules if I had to be. I applaud and admire you and those like you for working at it as hard as you do and being sleeve rockstars. Huge congratulations to you on 5 years of success. I hit 4 the beginning of next month. Fingers crossed for all of us continuing to maintain.

Katrina, I have to say you're not among the majority of bariatric patients and I think there should be an article written about you among the bariatric medical community. I haven't in all the 9 years I've been associated with large bariatric centers and tons of patients I've met, known anyone who could eat as much as you say you consume, the type of foods or anyone who wouldn't have gained some if not all of their weight. Interesting phenomena...

Jerzeygirl, I don't understand it either, but it isn't too weird to me. My mother and daughter are the same way. I actually have to force heavy calories on my daughter to try to keep her weight stable. I'm talking venti ultra caramel frappuccino with extra whip for her. I was so relieved to see her at 113 at her doctors appointment last week. Today I have eaten 8 sausage links, 2 pieces of bacon, a few bites of scrambled eggs with cheese, grits, Turkey cheese and mayo sandwich, bag of flaming hot cheetos, 6 mini candy bars, and just finished a bowl of sugar smacks cereal. My hunger is out of control, and I do gain some, but not like I should considering how I eat. I eat way way way more now than before surgery.

Do you still have the restriction? Are you eating frequently or able to eat more than you think you should be able to?

Oh Sharon, I do indeed look very monkish (not in a good way) right now. I have wonderful wigs from 3 different rounds of chemo over the years, and letting it grow back in under the wig (or ball cap or scarf) is way easier than the 10,000 haircut method, which I tried the first round of complete baldness.

And whine? A bit. My hair is naturally curly and I wake up looking like Marty from Back To the Future, with a bald patch The grace is, my husband wears bifocals -- and rose colored glasses, where I'm concerned.

Sraebaer, thank you so much for your post. As a newbie here, I noticed your posts right away and appreciated them, along with a few other regulars who tell it like it is. It's comforting to know that not everyone gains the weight back.

Also, I am so sorry for your loss. It is so stressful to lose a parent and dealing with everything that surrounds it is pretty insane. : (

It's really encouraging to see the ones who have kept the weight off. I know a few people, in my personal life, that have regained it. I was just talking to my cousin tonight who has had the vsg twice. The last one 2 years ago. Two of my aunts had the vsg as well. They didn't gain all their weight back but A LOT of it! I refuse to let that happen! My question is... When do I get to bring in enough calories to do Zumba again? I enjoy it and so do my 6 kids. Right now though, I can't do a whole lot. Congratulations on 5 years! That's absolutely amazing!
