    Post Finally got a date!

Finally got a date, a surgery date that is Oct 16, 2018! Come this far and thinking this is my chance to back out. I know it would be the right thing to do and hopefully, get rid of my stomach pains (probably from being Diabetic) I don't take any medications for my being diabetic but, if I don't do the surgery then the future would include medications. People I have told can't believe I am having the sleeve due to only being a size 14. So, I don't really tell people any longer that I am having this procedure.Confused about the pre-opt 2 weeks but, hopefully my doctor will clear everything up for me. Wondering how long to take off from work. I wanted to take 3 weeks but, big project needs my attention. And I need to fly back to Alaska one more time and help drive back a truck. Anyone have issues with flying, driving for about three days, and how much time to really take off for the sleeve surgery where it's a sit down job with no lifting. Thank you to everyone who has sent me messages I am still trying to figure this site out. Love reading others messages and concerns and the great advice.

I bet the surgery will help with your stomach pains and the diabetes. It's really no one's business if you habe this surgery or not, unless you chose to tell them. I think people will say anything to sabatoge others. I'm not going put of my way to tell anyone. Good luck, I bet you will do good!

I was about a 14 but I am 4'11" so....at any rate...I am glad I had this surgery. I am betting since you are having surgery in the US you are definitely a good candidate for it. The US is pretty strict about requirements to qualify, especially if you are going through insurance. As for time off, I also have a desk job and only took a week. I was fine. By the end of the night I was ready to lay in bed but I had no issues at work with fatigue or anything. I just made sure to always have water and my shakes with me.

I only took off a week and a half but my job is pretty sedentary, mostly office work. I felt ready to go back to work, just not ready to wear fitted pants once I went back. So the first week back I wore stretchy pants or just rolled the waist of my pants down a bit while sitting at my desk. Lol. My teacher friend had VGS done and took 2 weeks off from work but ended up going back to work early due to feeling really well. So it all depends on how physical your job is and how well you handle the procedure. I've read that it was really rough on some people. In addition to the VGS I had a hiatal hernia repaired- so I was really blessed to heal pretty quickly.

Sounds good a week off. Yes in the US and they said "I was good candidate for the sleeve." Water and Shakes Got it! Thanks so much.

So 9 days on my pre-opt diet and I have lost a whole 5 lbs. Not cheating and surprisingly not hungry. Even hiked 3 miles with my dogs. Just can't drop this weight. Yesterday, I had 2 Premier Protein shakes for (brk & lun) and for dinner I baked 1/2 red pepper stuffed with lean ground beef and about 5 Brussels sprouts. Just seems like another failed diet I've been on.
I am also sick with cough and cold thanks to my visiting girlfriend. So, maybe the medicine and few cough drops have messed this up for me. Don't feel good just in time for surgery on the 16th. Trying to think positive but, just believing I have already failed again. Wondering really if the surgery will be successful for me. At least, I get 2 weeks off my work!

Not to sound sarcastic, but having major surgery which changes lives is not a good enough reason to even contemplate thinking it's an excuse for missing work. You have to get your head into the game or success will not be forthcoming. It's lots of positive self-talk, determination and diligence and not to be taken so lightly. It will change your life for the better if you use the tool appropriately. By the way, many of us went to work very soon after surgery, for me it was 9 days and I was 61. Good luck with making the right decision for your life.

Wow! Jersey girl that was rude. My focus has always been on this tool and my health and I have taken this very serious. As a matter of fact I was going to take only 5 days off from work and doctor agreed. Then his assistant explained to me if I have the time to take the 2 weeks off. So, I did! Seems you missed what my message was saying and you seemed to be focused on my allowed time off. By the way I am from Jersey too and glad I left. Done!
