It’s been 7 yrs since my surgery last I have gained a few lbs but would lose them I recently had knee surgery almost a year ago and gained almost 40 pounds I’m feeling down and need help trying to lose it .. any ideas
I can imagine that you will have to cut down on calories, when you are not that active anymore.
I know, that I will eat around 300 calories less on a day I don't get much exercise.
I am a great believer in planning ahead.
Sraebaer gives great advice and she knows what she is talking about.
I am not far enough out, to give you advice, but going back to the basics always seems a sensible thing to do.
And step on that scale on a regular basis, so that you won't get surprises you don't want.
Good luck!
I'd say what Sraebaer said but I would also suggest going on a liquid diet for a few days to jumpstart it. (protein shakes) I would exercise in a way that you can...I do not know your physical limitations due to your knee surgery. I highly recommend adding strength training. It helps you burn more calories at rest. Just take it one day at a time and set small goals. Five lbs...then 5 more. Before you know it you will get there. If you say 40 it feels so far away and unobtainable. You got this.
I wouldn’t suggest a liquid diet because you will binge afterwards. Eat lean meats, eggs, legumes, vegetables, nuts, dairy, one piece of fruit daily, avoid the terrible 4 white foods: no flour, no sugar, no white potatoes , no white rice, AND no carbonated drinks, and no fried foods. I would suggest buying the 21 Day Fix DVD set (30 min daily workouts that are doable) and walk 30 min a day. Good luck and Just remember the most powerful thing is a made up mind!!
