You know I think that we do have a bit of a weaker immune system post op and I know that makes getting shingles easier. I was actually shocked at how prevalent it is. I mentioned it on facebook and was shocked to see how many people have had it. I also thought it was more for people over 50 but people were saying that they had gotten it in 8th grade, someone's kid had it at 8, and all sorts of other ages.
I hope you feel better very soon!! Take care!
Big hugs!!
(My bday was also not that good this year...next year will be better!)

I was super lucky because I caught it fast and got the antibiotics only about 48 hours after rash started. I had a suspicion it was shingles but felt kind of stupid self diagnosing it. BUT I had read if you catch it early it is better so I bit the bullet and went to the doctor. It also went away relatively quickly since I caught it early. I never realized how common it actually is. Anyone who has had chicken pox can get it. The myth that only older people get it prevents a lot of people from seeking treatment right away.
I've had the shot, which they now tell me only lasts a few years -- th enew vaccine, Shingrex, is a double dose and not available and expensive.
