    Default Mt. Kilimanjaro

Hubby and I are actually going to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in next summer! (At 62 and 64!!) I am so excited. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life, and I have until August to get in even better shape. I also have until August to get rid of my caffeine addiction, because I don't think they will be serving Diet Mountain Dew on the mountain. (I know, I know, I shouldn't be drinking diet soda in the first place, but I have coffee every morning and a soda every afternoon).

Our theory is we are going to do this crazy shit until we can no longer do it. (Hubby just biked 175 miles across Wisconsin in a day). Life is short and we'll go out having the time of our lives.

Anyone want to join us? We are also adding on a safari at the end of the climb. The tour group we are using says they have a 98% success rate.

Wow. So cool. I can't wait to see pictures. I did Mount Fuji when I was fat and had some altitude sickness. Hopefully you won't get that. The oxygen really does help.

    Woohoo!!
    This is super exciting!
I will not join you, but I will be cheering you on, every step of the way.
    Not that you need that...
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

That is fantastic! Which route are you doing? Good luck. If you want any advice just ask me as my husband and son did it 5 years ago, my son was 14 at the time. The photos were amazing and they had a really good time. x

Good on you! My husband and I did the Camino de Santiago from France , over Pyrenees Mountains, across Spain and to the Atlantic at 69 years old. Took us a month as we weren't as fast as others but we made it. Never would have even dreamed of it before surgery. Crazy shit can definitely be life changing.
Wish you and your husband the best.

They really acclimate you to the altitude, I think that's why the trip is 9 days. Hope it works because I get altitude sickness when I go to Colorado (if I fly in, not if we take our time and drive) and this is 19,000 feet!

The Western Approach, the 9 day route. Did they love it? How much did you have to spend on gear? We have everything to hike in the states, the clothes, sticks, daypacks with water bladders, down coats, etc, but I assume this is a whole new ball game.
