I'm Sick! Surgery next monday!!!

I have a nasty cough and my throat was sore but now I feel it healing and my surgery is next monday! I am not coughing every second more like once every hour but it's those nasty coughs that hurt a little.

I got some vicks to rub on my chest and on the heel of my feet and also some Duro-Tuss. Will this affect my operation? I would be heart broken if I had to reschedule.

Coughing is a big no no before surgery. I was once post pone a few years ago because I was coughing, and it was only skin surgery, not even invasive like a sleeve. They will also check your fever.

My advice would be to see a doctor asap to try to address that cough in one week you can still get better, depending on what's wrong, if it's just irritation or infection : lung infection could take longer to really get better.

Rescheduling could be a pain, but you want to have surgery in the best possible conditions. I had to reschedule my elective surgery in July because of an allergy, and I'm glad I did, I already had complications from the surgery, going under with other issues on top would just have make the whole thing a bigger mess.

Yes. If you are still coughing you should postpone surgery. You need to see if you can get some stronger meds. Fingers crossed that you get better by Monday. I would call your surgeon now to see if you can change for a few days later. Maybe there is another patient who can switch with you so it won't be postponed too long.

good news! my sickness is gone!!! Woke up and I'm all better.

then i got into the shower and walked out with an ear infection!!!

But that shouldn't affect the surgery. Thanks everyone for your support and tips counting 3 more days! i have lost 7 kilos over the course of 3 weeks (I was hoping at least 10 but beggars can't be choosers!)
