    Default Over Board, Please Help!!!

Hey guys been a while since I've posted. So I am 10 months out from surgery and am down 85 lbs! But the last two weeks have been hell. I quit smoking two weeks ago and I HAVE been wanting to eat everything in sight, like a lot of chocolate, plus it's that time of month. I've been able to handle this in the past but this time around seems almost dam near impossible. Any tips or suggestions on how to get over this would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Protein. Eat a chicken breast! Something to get the hunger to go away. It works.

Congrats on the 85 pounds. You are a new person! Concentrate on the positives. I have never smoked so can't give advice there, maybe others can. Best of luck to you.

Congrats on your great weight loss....and on giving up smoking. You are really going all out for a healthier you!

I understand that stopping smoking is one of the hardest things to do.

Maybe if you feel that you really want to eat something then as Sraebaer said grab some good protein. It should fill you up and hopefully get you passed the craving for sweet things.

Hopefully someone who has been through what you are going through will be along shortly to offer some suggestions.

Congratulations on the 85 pounds weight loss. I've never smoke so all I can say is way to go, on kicking the smoking habit. I'm sure it wasn't easy but you pushed through. When that sweet tooth occur and you want chocolate, grab a chocolate protein shake! Also, like sraebaer stated, grab some protein.

I don't have any experience with smoking but I do have experience with craving something when you want it, don't need it but want it anyway. The only thing that works for me is to exercise my way through the craving. I can take a 10-15 minute walk and the impluse to grab a bite of something is gone. You can also look at the piece of chocolate, figure out how many calories are in it and figure out how much exercise it will take to zero out the chocolate. I've used that method and sometimes just knowing I need to walk 30-40 minutes will make me say it's not worth it.

Congratulations on your 85 pound loss. That amount of weight loss shows you have the skill set to get past this challenge.

    Are you using nicotine patches?

If not, that might help a lot. There's absolutely no reason to cold turkey it without any help at all if there's something out there that will make this easier to get through.

    Very best to you.

P.S. And congratulations on your weight loss thus far. That's awesome!

Congratulations on your success so far. I quit 16 months ago. I used a vape for a few months to help quit, but it sure didn't keep the cravings away. I quickly gained from 102 to 116. Thankfully, the weight gain stopped, but I havent been able to shed those gained pounds. I also started smoking again last month. August is a shitty month for me, and I caved in to the sadness and smoked. I may or may not quit again. Who knows.

After many, many, many attempts at giving up smoking i can now say i haven't had a smoke for nearly 3 years.
Some of the things that i found that helped me stay away from snacking on sugary foods and keeping my fingers busy. Nicotine patches really helped and curbed the homicidal feelings lol. When the anxiety and fravings got really bad i would close my eyes and focus on my breathing, this technique really helped.
I also taught myself to crochet, found this very relaxing and kept my fingers from itching to reach for a cigarette or sweets.
    Best of luck
