Default I’ve decided to get the sleeve and I need advice

    Hello,

I am 23 and I weight 382 pounds. I tried diets they work for awhile and then I gain the weight back it’s a very depressing roller coaster. I do not eat a ton but I am a big snacker. I just don’t know where to start. I don’t know who to go to, how much I have to pay out of pocket, or even if this is a good idea. Sorry I am all over the place I just really need advice . I live in Las Vegas hopefully you guys can suggest some doctors in my area

    Hi and Welcome!

I can't advise you for Doctors in Your area or how the procedure works regarding the cost.

I can only recommend the sleeve.
It has been a brilliant tool to health and well being.

It has stopped the horrors for me of feeling I had no control.

It has given me a new found feeling which is eating and you become full in an entirely different way.

There is a resistance feeling that forms in my throat area that stops you eating there and then.

My head still says "I may come back to finish this in a short while" but I never do.

If anything it is saved for the next meal time.

I am only 7 months into this journey the results mentally, emotionally and physically are superb.
There is nothing in my 30 years of being over weight that has worked or made me feel so in control and full of energy.

There are some fantastic people on this site and I am sure they can help you.

Start by looking at the posts on here.
Then youtube for bariatric surgery watch, make notes come back to the forum here and ask questions.

    Good Luck!

I would suggest you start a new thread that says LAS VEGAS SLEEVERS or something like that, and I'm sure there is someone on line who will respond.
www.obesityhelp.com is another good site with lots of information.

Also https://asmbs.org/ has everything in the world about the process.

It is the best decision I made in many years and I'm 66!

    Hi
I can't comment on how things work in your area but I concur with Pudsley that this is a great tool.
I wish that I had had my surgery at 23! I was 55.
I finally have control over what I put into my body and it feels great.
I'm sure that there will be someone in your area that will be able to offer some suggestions for you.
Annie's advice for research is spot on. Do as much research as you can so that you know how it all works and what it involved.
    All the best!.

Go and see a bariatric surgeon in your area for a consult. Lots of weight loss surgeons have free information evenings so its worth looking those up :-)

Check out your personal healthcare insurance and make sure you have "bariatric" surgery coverage, some plans exclude this benefit. Then check what bariatric surgeons are covered under your insurance, call and make an appointment. If you have coverage and use the doctors in network, you shouldn't have to pay much out of pocket. That's a good start and do your research on the surgeons' and their outcomes after surgery. If they have a bariatric support group at the specific hospital that you choose, go there and listen to others who used the docs and hear their feedback.

I wish you good luck on your search and journey!
