Default 5 months out and my personal victories

I've been so busy and although I've been coming here each day I haven't really found the time to check in. I've been stuck at 160 - 162 for about month....but I've accomplished so much! Three days before surgery I walked a half marathon. I was the last person to cross the finish line and my back and feet were killing me! Less than 2 weeks after surgery I walked a 10k. I took it easy and came in last. My back and feet hurt some. Almost 3 weeks after surgery I participated in a walk relay where I walked 8 miles (the last 2 up some gnarly hills!). I felt great afterwards, just a little sore in my feet. I walked every day to train for the Hood to Coast walk relay (Portland to Coast). I do this relay every year! The relay was 1 1/2 weeks ago and I had so many feel goods! One of the girls who hadn't seen me since the relay in May was surprised at how different I looked..."You look like a whole different person!" she had screamed. When we walk at night we have to wear a lighted vest. Last year the bottom of my vest rested just below my boobs and I barely had enough velcro to keep it on. This year it sat on my hips and there was too much velcro. My first leg was 8 miles, and other than some blisters, my feet didn't hurt at all! I walked with a woman for a couple of miles who had lost 110 pounds and after visiting for a while, admitted she had had the bypass. We both kept up a really good pace and we were still able to talk without getting out of breath. Don't get me wrong, I've loved going from a size 18 to a 12 and how much thinner my face looks, but my first goal was to continue to be active. My weight was getting in the way of that! I wouldn't mind losing more pounds, but I feel so great right now! I've reached that goal, so I guess it's time to start focusing on the second goal of losing more weight while continuing to do the things I love to do <3

    Woohoo. Go you!
How wonderful it must feel to be able to achieve so much.
I love that fact that the smaller we get the more active we are and the more active we get the more we want to do. :-)

You go girl and surgery twin. I've been stalled for a week for the first time. I'm not letting it get to me though. I think our body needs this time. I'm so proud of you for doing those walks. I've not worked out much but have started back this week. I'm hoping if i build up my butt a bit, it won't hurt so much to sit on. I'm having hot flashes too! That's suppose to be long gone! Keep up the good work.

The doing what you love to do is so much more important than that silly number on a scale. So proud of you and all your accomplishments! Keep up the great work.

The main thing is keeping a positive attitude and you seem to be doing great at that. Keep up the great work and hats off to you for how active you have been. Congrats!!

You are doing fabulously. You may want to try to up your calories a little bit with more protein and/or veggies. When I started to stall it was always a sign I had to start eating a bit more. Doesn't hurt to try.

Wonderful post so happy for your health and your wellbeing.

    Truly inspiring in every way.
I went through the same stall around the same time as you.
I am now 6 months post surgery and its moving again.
I started to eat more, bigger portions are not easy, are they? so I added a snack in the middle of the day.

    All the Best to you.
