    Default 5 months since surgery

I had my check up today with my surgeon, 5 months after surgery. He is very happy with my progress and said I have done very well. I told him I still want to lose another 14kg and he thought it was a bit low for me and that I must not worry about the scales too much and maybe just get to within the healthy BMI range. I am almost at a healthy BMI. I am feeling great and have been buying some new clothes. However I have been ill for the past 21/2 weeks and have not been able to exercise and I am feeling really bad about that and have missed the exercise. My eating hasn't been great either, in that I have had no appetite and have been too full to eat as I have had to suck sugar free lozengers. I have been told I can now chew gum and hopefully that will help with the closed throat and constant coughing. I have also found a great herbal ginger tea or sometimes I just chop up fresh ginger and add to boiling water. It does help soothe the throat but does not stop the coughing and throat irritation. So all in all I am much happier and feeling great!

Feel better! Often "life" gets in the way of our journey, but you'll be back on track as soon as you are healthy.

I chose a normal BMI as my goal, basically because that's where I stopped losing and have maintained for years. I am at the high end of the healthy range. I think it's where my body wants to be. I was never in this to be super skinny, just wanted to look like a regular person. I guess I still enjoy food too much to be super skinny. Luckily I enjoy exercising too!

Way to go with the weight loss Ellie! I hope you feel better soon, though. Being sick sucks. My allergies are acting up right now. I originally chose a weigh on the higher end of a healthy BMI for my height. Once I got there my body continued to lose weight even though I was not actively trying. And it settled where it wanted to settle. I am sure yours will as well. I also do not let the number define me. As long as I am healthy and active then I am happy. I will NOT allow myself to outgrow the clothes I have. If they get tight I will make sure to go spring into action to prevent having to buy a bigger size. I am quite content where I am.
