Default Post Op Day 4....a little different than most :)

I am officially day 4 Post Op. My Surgery was last Friday and I am currently down 10lbs.

First, my surgery is a little different than everyone elses here I have read about. I went with Dr. McCarty due to his unique MiniSleeve procedure (or at least from what I can tell is unique). He uses natural exit points of the body and removes the stomach through your throat vs your abdomen, which means less incisions, less recovery, no pre-op diet (not sure I would have made it past that), and no restrictions after. I checked in for my 9am surgery at 7am, went back 30 mins earlier than planned and was home in my bed by 4pm.

The pain has been minimal and haven't taken any pain meds since Sat morning and then was just OTC liquid Tylenol. The hardest part over the weekend was working out all the anesthesia and trying to get water and jello down. The nausea was intense but never got sick. By yesterday I was able to drink and more than just clear liquids but then started getting tightness in chest after eating. My guess is some type of re-flux since I have never had it not sure what it feels like but talking with them now.

I am on liquids until Friday when I can eat soft solids and I have never been so excited for cottage cheese....I think all the sweet stuff is getting to me. I feel hunger but am really not eating as much as I should so the lack of calories is getting to me as well...trying to space out eating with phone reminders today. But the hunger isn't anything like it was before and its almost as if its making me not want to eat so I am forcing myself to get my jello or broth in.

Right now I am more in the "no energy, need calores" stage. Once Sat comes and I can have something not sweet I am sure I will be fine.

I'm moving fine and plan on starting my workout routine today or tomorrow but have to take it easy since i can physicalyl feel the weakness from lack of food. Seeing the pounds already start to come off is helping...I know its the right choice for me but can't wait to get past this point!

Glad you are doing well. Chest tightness is probably trying to drink too fast. Slowing down is the hardest thing. Protein shakes are they key to the lack of calories feeling. It's also probable that it's the fact that a doctor just cut into you, inflated your abdominal cavity with gas and removed most of a major organ. It takes a bit of steam out of you. Keep up your fluids sounds like you are doing great!

Wow I have never heard of the sleeve being done like that. Pretty cool, though. Hope you are still doing well.
