    Default In the Process

Hi, new here, in the process of doing the 6 month pre-qual for insurance. Meeting with Nutritionist once a month, and having different tests done. Did find out through this process that i have sleep apnea, and I think the CPAP is helping with my energy. Really like this page to watch and hear about everyone's journey. It really helps and makes me feel better about my decision to look into the Gastric Sleeve.

I am a 48 Year old Male, I was at 256 at beginning. I carry all my weight around my belly.

No scheduled surgery yet, i hit my 6 month mark to see if insurance will cover in October.

    Hi Brian,

    Welcome to the Forum.
    I love this place too!

There are so many stars on here each with their own journey full of helpful and kind advice and of course in a place of reality.

I must tell you for me its been the Best thing I have ever done for myself in my life.
I am a pretty positive person and have achieved some major fab things in my life by making it happen. But my weight was never one of them and it made me sad that I could not achieve that for my self.
But now I am sleeved well .... its just the Best!!!!

I wish you well and hope its going to be an easy thing to process.
Hoping it is everything you want it to be.

Ask questions, people here have the answers.

I did not expect to loose the amount I lost in 6 months, its great.
By being on here I now realise that the loss is similar to most peoples.
Which in itself is helpful instead of going by research on the internet, which is helpful but not the same as people who are available to give support and news real time.

    Good Luck.

48year old male here as well. Just had surgery a couple weeks ago. Best decision ever!

since you've got sleep apnea, as long as your bmi is over 35, insurance *should* cover. Good luck!

Good luck Brian. Did you insurance lay out the requirements for you? I know my surgeon's office laid out all the requirements and told me I would qualify as long as I followed all the rules about appointments and what not. For example I would be disqualified if I gained any weight during my approval process. I knew as long as the surgeon's office did their part correctly I would qualify. It was just the waiting game.

Well wish me luck, I had my six month appointment yesterday, they will be submitting my packet to the insurance company in the next day or so (the weight loss clinic I am working with believes I have met all the requirements). They say it can take up to 14 days to get approval back, but have seen it in less than 24 hours. Sort of nervous, sort of excited.
