I have been prepping for this for the last 6 weeks. I am so inspired by everyone on here. I am hoping I have as much success as the amazing people I have talked to. My biggest fear is continued binge eating. But I will continue to try.
I had very very severe binge eating prior to my surgery. It was so bad that I had lost 90 lbs, but gained it all back + 10. In addition, I also eat VERY very fast. Sometimes, I wonder if the food ever touched my stomach before I would take another bite.
After surgery, I have to say that my binge eating has been curbed probably around 90%. No joke. Before surgery I was on medication to try to curb it. The only thing that ever worked was being prescribed both Phentermine and Vyvanse. Even then, it was still bad. After surgery, though, I don't really have many uncontrollable cravings. I also experienced a rare side effect from sleeve where I have what is called 'Dumping symdrome" if I eat too many sweets. That alone has helped significantly.
I think that when we come out of surgery, our brains are wired different because our body is responding different. I really feel that this tool will assist you in achieving your goals. I still have cravings from time to time, but it's usually for something crunchy as opposed to something sweet. I try to keep crunchy veggies or low cal/fat/carb cookies around.
Good luck! You got this.
It is super hard to binge eat. Even with slider foods you can eat more but not binge eat. Just remember why you are doing this. Also, one thing that helped me mentally through the process is that we can only eat small amounts of food post op. It is very easy to become nutrient deficient if we are eating crap foods. I have to give my body the best foods possible to avoid getting sick. Maybe it is simplistic but that thought process helped me immensely. You got this and you have a whole community of people here to help you on your journey. Stay active on here and stay accountable.
