Default New beginnings: today is my day!

    Hello all!
I’m up bright and early—though I have been all week—for my surgery. It’s finally here!
To say I’m scared is an understatement. I’m petrified. But a wise man told me that I shouldn’t worry over things I can’t control. It’s not in my hands anymore. I did my part; I got myself here to this point in my journey. Now it’s up to he amazing doctors and nurses to help me on this path. I have confidence in my surgeon’s ability. Now I just have to try to relax. Easier said than done!
I will touch base when it’s all finished.
    Happy Tuesday!

Oh, I am so excited for you!

Good Luck and it sounds as if you really have the correct Mindset to go forward in life.

Yep leave it to the experts they are part of your journey and then life will feel like you are the one driving it forwards.

I really wish you well and you know 4 to 6 weeks later you will see that for your self.

Sip your water and keep up with the fluids after surgery, walk around as much as you can and nap and sleep as much as you can.
    That's your part.

Let us know how you are and ask anything, there is so much help on this forum.

    Good evening everyone!
I am home. I am gassy. But I am happy.
Sore throats and 5 lbs of water weight gain later, I am now a member of the VSG club! Woo Hoo!!
The surgery went well. My liver is oversized, three times normal to be exact. All those sweets and carbs caused a fatty liver, which can lead to cirrhosis if left untreated. My surgeon was happy to see that I took this step. It truly is saving my life.

After a rough night's sleep, full of cpap whistles and IV alarm noises, the ice chips started tasting like I bit into a magnet, which I've never done but am imagining how metallic it would be. I was so grateful to eat an orange gelatin, skim milk (Lactaid), chamomile tea with lemon and Splenda, and an unsweetened coconut water as my reward for making it thus far. Man that first spoonful of gelatin tasted like heaven.

I am on pain meds, but I don't want to depend to heavily on them, so "as needed" is a rule I am following. I took the hydrocodone/acetaminophen mixture at 11 am. I just took another dose at 9:00 pm. I just had to. But I am only human, and can tolerate so much pain. But it's more pressure from the gas causing discomfort than it is pain; its hard to explain. Imagine a balloon (with those 5 lbs of water filling it) with a leather belt being squeezed around it. That's how I feel. Now I know this is TMI, but I can't wait to make a bowel movement. It would alleviate the discomfort so much. Thank god for small sips and walking. I went to Shop rite just to walk around. I was amazed with how I didn't crave anything. Well, maybe some orange gelatin

I can't wait to see how I feel tomorrow; I have a job interview at 9 am. I know I will be ok enough to make it. It's not an opportunity I can let pass by. I'll keep you all posted,

Wow! Welcome to the Sleevers club.

    You are doing great.

I will be 6 months on September 2.
I never ever have had even a tiny thought of any regret, the benefits are so rich and you are in a wonderful place as Hookydad said its gets better and better.

Good Luck with the interview I think its admirable that you are attending so soon after your surgery.

    Hello all,
Well I'm three days out. Felling human again after a night terror free, sleep as if I'm dead, much needed sleep.
Gas is moving. Warm liquids help. I can't tolerate the cold ones yet. Still causing cramping.
I'll keep the updates going. But I am so happy...and relieved.

    Awesome - congrats.

Plenty of rest and plenty of fluids. And now that you're 3 days out, protein too. You've got this!
