    Default Just my luck

Hello everyone. I was sleeved this past Tuesday. Have done pretty well so far. I am feeling shaky, I suppose I need more protein. Has this happened to anyone and how did you deal with it? Also, unfortunately I sprained my knee and can't do too much walking! It never fails, I have not had a sprained knee for many years, and now that I really need to walk for exercise, I can't. I hope this doesn't cause me to have a stall with losing since I've barely begun. I mean, why couldn't this have happened a couple of years or even months ago? Just another aggravation to deal with. Maybe it will get better soon. Just needed to vent. As we all know, nothing is simple! Thanks to all of you listening.

Sorry to hear you sprained your knee. Don't work yourself into worrying about the walking or exercise. I laid in bed every single day, and lost all my weight plus plenty more. I've never once exercised. It isn't needed to lose weight. It does have plenty of other benefits, but you'll get to it soon enough.

PS. I never stalled. Even if you do, no cause for worry, it'll break.

Sorry about your knee. You will lose even if your knee isn't allowing you to exercise. As for feeling shaky, that will pass. The first week is the hardest. Focus on staying hydrated and getting in as much protein as you can. Don't be shocked if it is not much. Just keep working on it.

I realize you can't exercise right now, but the longer you "lay around doing nothing," the more muscle tissue you'll be losing.

And all that losing muscle tissue does for us is our metabolic rate -- NOT the direction you're aiming for, I know.

However, the worst thing you could do for your injury is to push too hard and injure it even more, prolonging your recovery time.

Take it easy, let it heal, and then gradually start moving -- a little more each day.

    Best wishes to you!

Even if you can't walk a lot right now because of your sprained knee, you can still do arm exercises. Punching-type exercises are cardio too.

Good luck! You're just getting started.

Thanks, I needed that advice. I do need arm and upper body exercises. I'm sure most of us who have battled weight all our lives know what I'm talking about: flabby, saggy underarm wings! Mine already look terrible because of so many weight losses and regains. I will research what kind of exercises I need to do and for how long. I can't believe I didn't think of that. THANK you, again! Barby

I am right there with you on the underarms. I call mine my "bingo wings." I think that's a term I picked up living in Georgia.

Your knee will heal, no worries. Exercise when you are able to.

As far as protein, I was on protein drinks from the day after surgery on. And I felt really good, just tired.

I’m so sorry about your knee! I like the arm exercise suggestion. You might also try moderate leg lifts with your good leg. Hang in there!
