    Default Energy levels

    Hello all,
I have noticed a change in my energy levels since starting the pre-op diet. I have never had so much energy. I'm not sure if it's from the protein shakes or the lack of sugar; it may be a combination. Oddly enough, despite the lack of food, I feel great.
Will this last after the surgery?
Thanks in advance for the advice,
    Christina

I also feel like I have more energy on the pre-op diet. But I started all the vitamins when I started the pre-op diet. So I was contributing my energy burst to the B-12 pills. Whatever it is, I hope it lasts as well. I feel like I have less strength though. My son feels heavier than ever to me. Might be due to the lack of food and I'm not doing well with the protein shakes/bars.

Nope probs not! LOL! but make the most of it. I had heaps of energy on pre-op too but I think it was because I was so excited. After I was exhausted for 6 weeks but it sorted itself out. Best of luck to you, super exciting :-)

Well the energy has continued. I can’t sleep past 6 am. This is from someone who loves to sleep and before could do so for thirteen hours a night—at least while I’m on vacation. Let’s hope this doesn’t annoy me too much the night before surgery.
    T-minus 3 days!

    Hi Christina!

I felt a lot better during my pre-op diet. I was a type II diabetic, and getting off the carbs, sugar, eating a much lower calorie diet helped with my energy levels big time!

I was pretty tired and sluggish the first 6-7 weeks after surgery, but now I feel great! I only sleep 8 hours (not the 12 + hours and naps I was taking before), and have enough energy to go to work and go the gym afterwards!

I'm glad that you're feeling great!! It will continue as you lose weight and keep it off!

As above you will more than likely feel tired after surgery.
Use the time after to rest, sip as much water as you can, walk as often as you can and get used to the new you :-)

So my energy levels have seemed to level out. I have the energy to get up at 5 am, do some things I need to, and I get tired quickly. Have to take a nap after. I try to stay up till 10. Some nights I don’t make it that far. Like tonight.
Lol it’s 10 pm. I’m hitting the hay. TTYL all!

Wow you get up at 5am and stay awake until 10pm, that's some great energy right there. Lol! I get up on weekdays at 5:45am to get 3 kiddos off to school/daycare, I work 7:30a-4pm, pick up kids, get home to eat dinner/help with homework/clean and I'm exhausted by 8pm. Everyone's bedtime is 8pm. Haha! Some nights I fall asleep before my 1 year old. My energy has gotten better since beginning the b-12 vitamins a month ago, but bedtime is still my most favorite time of the day.

    Probably the protein!

After surgery you'll be tired that first week, I'd say sleep as much as you can, and when you're awake walk and sip. By week 2 my energy started coming back and I started more walking. By week three I was back to work and feeling good. (Though in the lunchroom people did notice how small my portions were...)

After surgery you won't be hungry, totally cool side effect. You may have to force yourself to get in your liquid and protein requirements. I just kept a journal and wrote down every ounce of liquid and gram of protein to be sure I was good for each day. My protein drinks counted toward both.

Keep up the good work, this is so much fun!

    Hello sraebaer,
I have been getting my protein in. I only have been getting it from the meals I’m eating. I refuse to drink a protein shake. Unless I get desperate. But I think I’m coming down with something. Oh well. I’ll keep up with the vitamins. And hope for the best.
