I guess that you will be feeling gutted @nomad9988. I really feel for you.

This is just a suggestion - is there any chance you could go to Mexico and do a self-pay? There is someone on this site who doesn't even have a BMI of 30!! (so medically, they are not even Class 1 Obese), going to Mexico to have a gastric sleeve.

Can only wish you all the best x.

I had to gain 7 lbs to qualify and did it. Best decision I ever made.

Sorry! According to your profile you have 100 pounds to lose? That doesn't make any sense that you would have to weigh more! Rocks in your pockets?!?

Usually if you have any co-morbidities at all, insurance will cover a BMI of 35 - I only had high blood pressure and a BMI of 39 and I was covered. Sometimes it takes a lot of collaboration with your MDs, but eventually it can usually be worked out.

I am a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist but I have never practiced in the areas of bariatrics or weight loss. I am happy to offer ideas or tips, but please follow your own Nutritionist's advice - she is the expert in the area.

I had lost weight down to a 38 BMI as well, had multiple co morbidities; but our insurance was just "no" and the hoops were too high for me. We elected self pay (in the states) and its the best decision we've ever made. I feel like a whole new soul!
