Thumbs up Hello & got a while yet to go

Hi there, just thought I'd say hi to this forum as I'm a newbie. I have my surgery booked for February 2019 (due to insurance waiting periods) but I'm madly doing all the research I can and joining all different forums such as this to really be a part of this fantastic community. I'm really excited to get onto that loser bench but will have to wait patiently. In the meantime, if anyone would like to add me (I'm not even sure whether that's a thing in this forum) I'd be happy to stay connected. I'm also on instagram under the same member name (Translender).

    Good luck to all.

Hey there - I sent a friend request. I am a baby sleever - just over 2 months. I will be happy to tell you more about my experience, but of course I have no yet met my goal or anything. Pretty happy with my progress so far though.

I applaud you for getting involved early. I joined this forum in October last year and was sleeved in June. It is nice to already know some of the people who are here - I feel more comfortable posting or asking a question now. There are some great people here, and they have all been where we are.

    Welcome.

I am a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist but I have never practiced in the areas of bariatrics or weight loss. I am happy to offer ideas or tips, but please follow your own Nutritionist's advice - she is the expert in the area.

As much as waiting sometimes stinks, the best thing about this time is you have time to prepare. I spent about 18 months changing my "brain" before I had my sleeve done. I knew that changing my relationship with food would be a good starting point. I learned what full feels like and worked hard not to eat out of boredom, stress, pain, loneliness, etc. I also started to eat high protein, low carb and cut out sugar in a big way. Reading labels before purchasing anything and in general trying to eat more healthy and manage portions. These have really helped me manage postoperatively as well.

All the best to you on this journey....you're on a great path!

Welcome!! You found a great place to meet friendly people who will offer great advice. Ask all kinds of questions so you know what is ahead of you. We all had to go through the waiting period but it is so worth it. Good luck!!

I too have a ways before surgery. Probably beginning of Dec. I know it's hard to wait, but this past month has gone by fast. One the good side, we can figure out a plan for after surgery. Best of Luck!

Welcome Translender. Yes. The insurance wait can be long but it is the best time to read up and learn as much as you can. I had a 7 month wait from start to surgery but I think it made me much more prepared. I had no real issues and hit my goal in no time. I am posting a link to one of my favorite info sites. It is actually where I found this forum.
