    Default 10 Days Post Op

Hi Everyone, today is my 10th day post op and I see it on my face that I have lost weight. It is much slimmer. One scale says that I am 190.1 and the other scale says I am 199.0 so that's a huge difference so I will wait. My SW was 207.8 so either I lost 6.7lbs or 17.7lbs. Either way I am losing weight. I tend to try out soft foods already and then regret it later on. When I saw try I mean literally one tiny bite and I am bloated.

Is it me or does anyone feel deprived? I thought that all hunger pains would subside with the surgery but at least once a day I find myself missing food. I know that my weight loss has a lot to do with the fact that I am not eating. I am drinking, trying some ensure but that's it.

Today I have been drinking a cup of peppermint tea since I woke up to settle my stomach with no sugar or anything. For Lunch I will start sipping on some muscle milk that has 160 calories, no sugar, 8 grams of carbs, 25g of Protein, 5 grams of fat. IDK how nutritious it is but I need something. I feel like I am running on empty.

BTW its my first day back at work.

    Have a great day everyone.

Totally try Premier Protein drinks! They taste so much better than muscle milk. Congrats on the weight loss! I’ve been mostly drinking Premier Protein drinks, bone broth, protein water and g2 gateraid. I still have 3 more weeks of this liquid thing. Ish

Hello and congrats on your success so far.
Sometime the hunger you feel may be indigestion. Have you been given something for this?
If you an try some protein drink you may fond that helps to fill you up.
It's a learning curve all the time so you may just have to try different things to see what works for you. Just make sure that you are following your surgeons instructions and all will be good.

Congratulations on your surgery! At only 10 days Post Op you may be moving too fast in trying soft foods. You need to give your new stomach time to heal. I am 4 weeks Post Op and just started soft foods. I had to be on liquids for 3 weeks. I am happy to be eating some food now, but being cautious about it. Taking it slow. I have no idea what my new stomach will tolerate now. So I am slowly introducing new food. My taste buds are not the same either. Water and getting protein in will help with feeling hungry. I haven't been really hungry to be honest, but I have to get something in there. Even if it is just a little bit.

It may not be hunger pains you're having, it may just be in your head that you are hungry. We have to change all of our mental habits as well as our eating habits. I still find myself putting more on my plate that what I can eat some times.

    You can do it!

Just give yourself some time. You just had surgery, your body also needs to clear itself of all the liquids they filled you with (IV) during and after your procedure. Soon you will notice positive changes and your whole outlook will change. Best of luck!!

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. Today I tried on a pair of jeans that didn't fit me and 12 days post op they are a little big. I also measured my waist and I went from 39 to 34. My hips were 47 and now they are 45. Not much but still enough to feel like I am losing weight. My husband is so afraid that I get too thin. He is too much. Today I made my own protein shake and getting 64 oz of water seems impossible. I don't know why. It just feels like too much.

Now check this out! I called when after I was released from the hospital Aug. 5th to schedule a post op appointment and the receptionist stated Aug. 30. Is that too far for a post op appointment? She said my doctor was really booked and won't be able to see me until then. I wish I could speak directly to him. He is only in the office on thursdays so I am def. going to give him a call.
