    Default Self-Pay Financing

My insurance doesn’t cover weight loss surgery so I would have to pay out of pocket. For those who have had to pay out of pocket, how did you go about financing your surgery? Could you give me the names of some reputable lenders? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

I paid cash. Was able to scrounge up the money. You might ask your doc if they do payment plans or know of lenders that do medical lending. Otherwise it's traditional sources. I'd recommend against credit cards due to very high interest.

Hey Love I have my surgery next week and my insurance would not cover me at all and I tried everything! You need to try United Medical Credit. They financed my surgery without question. Talk to Lori Martinez and tell her Kayla Dorsey recommended you. You can also try Care Credit. But I recommend UMC because they work with you whether bad fair or good credit.

    Good Luck and Best Wishes!!

Hi - I used Prosper Lending - it's peer to peer lending. They will finance up to $35-40K with 3 or 5 year pay back terms. Interest rate will depend on credit worthiness of course. I believe they require direct access to an account to withdrawal the monthly payment and I never had an issue with that. I even paid my loan off early and there was no extra withdrawals after my loan was PIF.

For those that have been self-pay, what did your surgeon require you to do before they would perform the surgery (special diet for a certain period of time, quit smoking, etc)? I know insurance companies have their own requirements but I’m just curious what hose who were self-pay had to do. I scheduled my first appointment for 9/21 (the wait is going to kill me!) so I still have some time to go before I know what my particular surgeon will want me to do. I’m just curious! Thanks!

Hi - My surgeon required a cardiac stress test and did some blood work - I think that was it. I had no pre-existing conditions; such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, etc. so other than just being fat; I was pretty healthy. I had my first visit with the clinic on April 1st or 2nd of 2015; and I was getting my surgery on April 27th. I did not waste any time

I was self-pay and my surgeon only required blood tests, cardiac stress test, heart ultrasound, and nothing to eat or drink after midnight of surgery day. He is probably the most relaxed on guidelines out off all that I've seen posted about on here.
