Doctor’s Note?

What’s type of note did your doctor write for your surgery? I need to get some sort of a note to give to work but I really don’t want them knowing that this is an elective surgery or they might deny my leave. So what did your doctor write for you?

Mine was just a note saying the date of surgery and the return date for work with the doctor's signature. It did not say what type of surgery and my surgeon's office doesn't have "bariatric" in the name. But, I also didn't have to turn in a note beforehand just to return to work.

My surgeon just said that I would be out of action from date to date.
There was no mention of what procedure I was having and nothing on her letterhead to indicate anything. She does several different types surgery so if someone really wanted to goggle her they would still not be able to tell.

My doctor just wrote a note saying I was having surgery and would be permitted to return to work at a certain date. I too didn't want work to know what kind of surgery I had. And I think it's against the law for them to ask, you know hippa and all that privacy stuff.

I was able to use FMLA leave for work, but they used my built up sick time I had. I told my work what I was having done as it didn't bother me to let them know. I was back at work in 2 weeks and probably could have gone back in a week. Good luck to you on your journey!!

I filled out paperwork for short term disability just in case. It goes through HR and technically they can't say anything due to HIPPA. All they knew is I was out for surgery. I took a week of leave and then came back. Never even used my short term disability.

What she said. My doctor was vague and gave dates. Your work is not allowed to ask. If they do, you don't have to tell them.
