    Default New In Town

    Hi Everyone!
I just found the forums here today and I'm so thankful I did. I really need to build support behind me and this seems like a great place to do so! A little about me. I'm a mom to 5 beautiful girls and grandma to 2 more Starting this journey, I weighed in just before Christmas at a whoopin 373 lbs .. YIKES... I've lost approx 47 lbs over the last 6 months, it honestly should have been more but I am the first to admit, I was NOT perfect and had my fair share of cheat days. Now I'm on day 4 of my pre-op liquid diet, and this phase terrified me because my willpower is horrible, but so far so good. Every time I have an itch to cheat I just keep reminding myself that its for my own safety during surgery (which is also terrifying me, I've never been under the knife before), and that is scheduled for August 22nd, right around corner EEK

I look forward to getting to know some of you and sharing our adventures!

Welcome! I have never been under the knife before either. Today I am 5 days post op and honestly the surgery wasn’t bad at all. You’ll be sore after like you just did a ton of sit-ups but it’s not unbearable at all. You will do just fine. The liquid diet is tough but your mentality is right. It’s for your own safety. I’m excited for you as this is a new journey and will be very rewarding. Keep your goals in the forefront of your mind and stay motivated and you will feel great!

Welcome. You have come to the right place for support. Lots of wonderful folk here happy to share their experiences.
I found the pre op diet the worst part of the whole process - and it really wasn't all that bad. The best part was that unlike any other diet I had been on I knew that this had an end date and after that I was going to have a wonderful tool to help me on my way to a new healthy life.
Hang in there - lots of positive thoughts and you will be just fine.

ps: I had never had any surgery before either - I was amazed at how smoothly it all went. :-)

I feel the most important step in this whole process is having control over your mind. We all developed horrible eating habits our entire lives, which is why we are all here on this forum. The sleeve is an important step in the weight loss process, however, the hardest thing I have found is to control your mind and not let it take control of your eating again.

If you follow the general rules of eating only about 4 oz's of food, stay away from fast food, soda's, candy bars ect... eat high protein low carb meals you will continue to drop weight. The key is only eat the small amounts and that actually does satisfy your system (it does for me so far, I am almost 4 months post-op) if you can train your mind to eat the proper ways, this system works. Reading advice on this forum also works great because many have been in our shoes as they are farther along on the journey.

Just stay in touch with what your medical team provides for you. Follow it like it is the law and there will be no worries. Best of luck to you!!
