I am on day 2 post op and am curious how long i am going to feel like I have been doing a huge amount of sit ups? I know everybody is different but maybe i could figure out an average.
Thanks
Hi Mark.
I actually can't remember how long. I wasn't sore as such, more uncomfortable. I had 2 nights in hospital and once home I didn't need any pain relief at all. I felt one incision more than the others. I'm guessing that this is the one the stomach came out of.
I certainly didn't feel like running a marathon but I was able to get up and walk short distances and those increased every day. Getting in and out of bed was probably the most uncomfortable until I learned to roll onto my side get my legs over the side of the bed and then push myself up into a sitting position. Getting up out of a chair also needed me to push up with my arms.
Remember you have had a fairly big surgery and your insides have had a big shock. It will take a little time.
Keep us posted on your progress :-)
You've definitely got the sensation down. It felt like I had done way too many sit-ups and had sore muscles. It was never really bad pain. For me, it got better every day and by a week out I felt fine.
It helped that I bought one of the bed rest pillows (like this one from Target: https://www.target.com/p/-/A-53267323) to sleep with, along with about 4 other pillows) because getting up from lying straight on my back was not fun for at least 2 weeks.
Congrats on taking the plunge!
I think it may be your incisions that are bothering you, each is different but that should go away soon. It just takes a few days for them to heal where they don't bother you so much. You should notice improvement each day. My best advice is take a little pain in the beginning for the first few days and then once it all goes away you feel like a new and improved person. Hope you feel better soon, hang in there it will get better!! Best of luck!!

Not long at all. I know I only took my pain meds for two or three days. (I wanted to drive!). When I was back to work after 2 weeks I was feeling very close to normal.
