    Default Clothes!

So I guess I may be one of lucky ones. I've lost weight before. And I've gained weight again.
Along the way, I've NEVER gotten rid of clothes that were too small for me. If I lost weight, I'd donate clothes that were too big, but I'd always keep the smaller stuff. Because, I kept saying, one day I will wear those clothes again!!!

I've recently been going through my boxes and boxes and boxes of old clothes.
What shocked me most of all - I don't need to buy ANYTHING until I start wearing large shirts, but even then, I don't need that much.

If I get down to medium, I need to start buying.

Actually - i'm wrong. Surgery is Tuesday. I go back to work on Sep 4th. I need to go shopping for a belt before Sep 4th.

Congrats, Glenn. This is a great time in the big weight loss phase. All those "little" clothes that finally fit again. Bliss!

I didn't have to start buying new clothes until I was fitting well in a size 12. For me, that was at around 160-165 pounds. But after that -- jeez Louise! I made a big mistake when I hit 150 pounds and size 10, thinking that was definitely where I would stop. So I invested in some good size 10s.

    WRONG!

Eventually, I got to 135 pounds and now wear size 4s, which still blows my mind. That size is due to weight loss, exercise, and a little bit of vanity sizing (small sizes are cut a little bigger than they used to be).

Interestingly, I haven't tossed the size 10s. But everything larger than that is long gone.

Woohoo. What fun getting into smaller and smaller clothes. I have been giving all my big clothes to the local charity store and buying the bare minimum until I get to where my body wants to be. I love being able to go into normal stores and there being a selection of items to try on.

LOL a belt is probably a good idea ;-)

    Hi Glenn!

Have fun shopping!! that's one of the best part of losing weight!

Since I actually got obese from my first pregnancy 22 years ago (going from a 10/12 to a 22) and continued to gain with the following babies, I basically had nothing smaller than 22...but going up to 24/26/28...(shame!!).

I did give away my biggest sizes in 2012/2013 when a one year diet made me 60 pounds lighter, but long story short, I had my sleeve in Asia and couldn't find my size there since most women wear a size 4 or smaller. So each trip abroad to the US of France, I came back with one suitcase full of "in between sizes".
I must say my prediction, helped with my doc and the body composition gave me a pretty good idea of where I could get and my target size was 14P/16P. The only thing I didn't plan was that sometimes I would lose quickly and jump a size ...so I had a few brand new things I was happy to give away.

So far even with my gain (medication) this winter, I still wear the same (14/16P) size but it's a little tight. I hope at some point to go back where I was this winter before the medication, and even lower...but not too much lower....doc said it was not a good idea to lose to much because my deficiencies would get worth too...we'll see!

HI Glenn, its great to fit back into smaller clothes.
In the past I never got rid of clothes as I lost weight, but this time I have been giving away the clothes as I get smaller. I have clothes in my wardrobe from when I was a UK6, but I don't think I will ever get that small again. The only problem I have found with all my clothes from when i was smaller is that I don't like them now and so have had to go shopping. I kept them in the hope I would fit into them and now I don't like them and some are too big as well. Keep going and enjoy the new you.

Oh I dont necessarily love all of my smaller clothes. I like kist but I look at them as transitional clothes anyway. I dont mind wearing some of them out of style or whatever for a short time. I'd rather wear these transitional clothes then have to spend money on clothes I'll "outgrow" quickly.

That's something I look forward to after surgery. I have soooo many clothes that I bought during previous weight losses and for anticipated weight losses that were on clearance (lol). I can't wait to start fitting in to them. I shouldn't have to buy anything until I'm much smaller than I am right now.

I WISH I would have saved my small clothes. But they would have probably been out of style seeing I had been fat for at least 10+ years. But I did have some cute stuff.

I saved all ranges of clothing sizes and have been to my storage unit to shop (I'm in a housing transition) and pulling out those size 12's has been so much fun! I did go into Old Navy yesterday and bought some Pixie pants in a size 12 and got some large tops. I could not believe my reflection in the dressing room mirror. Everything fit! I even bought a new bathing suit on clearance and didn't dread it, I had three to chose from cause they all looked good..that has never has happened to me before. I used to hate bathing suit shopping. In March I was pushing a 2X in a top and busting out of a 18 pant size. I think I knew in my heart that I would be able to fit in my old small sizes someday so that's why I saved them. Intuition? I have been giving bigger clothes to charity and do that on a weekly basis, I just have the donation bag near the closet and toss things in.

I have to laugh because I did not have to buy clothes for a realllllyyyyy long time either. I was a delusional hoarder. It worked out to my advantage, though. I have thrown away all my big stuff now. I have no intentions on going back.
