    Default 1 day post op

I’m not much of a blogger but I wanted to let others know my surgery experience so far. Well, I actually did it and went through with it. My surgery was at noon yesterday.. it went great! No complications. I got up and starting walking pretty quick so I could get the catheter removed. That was the worst pain I had. My gas wasn’t bad whatsoever. The worst of the gas for me felt like a knot on my shoulder. Nausea...I only had a little bit of nausea after my first walk and that’s it. I just had my first ounce of chocolate protein and all good. I just got removed from the IV and had to get dressed as the robe was always in the way.
I wanted to share this so that people who are really nervous like I was it really wasn’t bad at all. I’m not hungry at all and feel pretty darn good today.

Congrats! Glad to hear you are feeling well. I'm 10 days out. Doing ok but struggling a bit with constipation. ( I know that's TMI but this whole site is TMI right?) I think I've got that problem solved. I have to remind myself to eat and drink slowly. I've lost about 7-8 pounds since right before surgery.

That’s awesome on the weight loss! I think I’m going to try to get a jump on it and start taking stool softners. Right now I am bored out of my mind. I just had an ultrasound done on my legs. So getting close to going home

Watch out for Miralax type stool softeners, they can dehydrate you. I was so cabin feverish to get out of the hospital I'd walk past the nurse station chanting "let my people go" and sing "I wanna go home, let me go home".

You're only 1 day post op. You don't need stool softeners. If you followed the pre-op diet, then there shouldn't be much in there to get rid of. It took me 3 days before my first BM. Drink plenty of water and drink your protein shakes. It will happen, trust me. All the stool softeners do is remove the water from your body into your intestines to get the waste out. You need your fluids where they are.
    Good luck!!!!!

Congrats on your new sleeve Mark. I always say it wasn't that bad overall. I only had some bad nausea when I first came out of the anesthesia but I expected that because it has happened before after surgery. After that I was just mostly tired.
