Default Anyone not exercising as you should be?

After surgery, does anyone know what happens if you're not able to exercise due to health reasons or something unforeseen? Is anyone is not exercising as you should be? What happens if you don't exercise, do you still lose weight? Concerned if I might have a longer recovery. Trying to cover all bases, just in case.

I'm sure you'll still lose weight, but you won't feel as energetic and have as nicely a toned body without it. Exercise is good for your body and soul! It makes my heart happy. It probably accelerates the weight loss, but who knows.

You can lose without exercising. That being said, exercising tightens everything up. I exercise every day. I have a fabulous life. The exercise also allows me to eat what I want and maintain with no issues.

I don't exercise, I do not like exercising.
But I love the outdoors, I love to walk and hike, I consider myself to be pretty active.
Every day I walk a couple of miles with my dog.
I have lost a lot of weight and I can maintain my current weight without problems (well, maybe getting too skinny...)

Having said that, I do believe you will have to find some form of physical activity that you really, really like to do.
For me that was running, but sadly enough I got a lot of injuries, so I had to give that up.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

    Walking is exercising.
It may not be high impact. Other forms of exercise may help you tone better, lose faster, build more/better muscle. But that's not to say that walking is not exercising. It absolutely is.

If you can't walk at all due to medical issues, talk to your doctor about what exercises you can do. If you can walk, walk. If you can only walk 1000 steps a day, make it a goal to walk 1100. Increase it as you are able. If you can't realistically walk 10000 steps a day (yet), set a smaller, ACHIEVABLE GOAL, and reach that goal. Maybe 1100 this week. Maybe 1200 steps next week - maybe more.

My exercise goals immediate post-op are a lot different than my long term exercise goals.

    Immediate post-op - walking.
    A month or two post-op - eliptical
    2-3 months - light jogging
    Light weight lifting

    4+ months heavier jogging/running
    Heavier weight lifting

But - walking is still exercise!

You didn't give your surgery date that I could see. I'm ten days out and just doing a little light gardening housework and shopping. Love g term I plan on biking and heavier gardening. If you find something you enjoy and can physically do you can improve your health with exercise. That being said I think you can lose weight without it.

At my 2 week post op my doc made me stop cardio while upping my food consumption and it severely lowered my loss rate. Went from 17 pounds in 2 weeks to 3 pounds in 2 weeks. Also made me feel bad. We've since reintroduced doing 20 min a day on the bike(at slow speed) and it's a healthy balance on loss.

You have to walk immediately post op or it can kill you. It's a medical necessity to prevent atrophy and blood clots. You will be up and walking the day of your surgery. If the surgery causes you to be medically unable to walk you should be in the hospital getting 24 hour care.

Don't pregame excuses for not following an exercise protocol.
