    Default So Tired Please Advise

    Hello,

I read all these post and after about 6 weeks everyone seems to have a lot of energy. I'm at 7 weeks and I'm so tired. I'm doing all the doctor said - water, protein, small portions. Swim every morning, walk at night.

My day goes like this: Get up at 7 and swim, water 2 glasses, eat breakfast - 11:00 on the couch asleep for 2 hours.
Get up and do some stuff, lunch, water, etc

4:00 back on the couch for maybe 2 hours sleeping.

This can't be normal. I need more energy.

Yes, getting in 60-70 grams of protein, green vegetables, water and 1 shake a day. Plenty of exercise.

What do you think. Thanks a lot

4 hours of napping a day does seem a lot. How much are you sleeping at night?
Maybe pop back to your doc to discuss this. I mean it does knock some people for six but it might be worth doing some bloods, checking in with a dietitian to see exactly what you are eating and how, checking your vitamins, could be a ton of things. Go back to the doc and good luck :-)

Have you had your B12 levels checked recently or are you taking Vitamin B12? Maybe your levels are low or even your Iron. It won't hurt to get these checked. Both of these being low can have an effect on your energy levels. I was told to take 2,500 mcg of Vitamin B12 weekly. Hope this helps!

I agree with the other comments, go and see the doctor but also listen to your body, you might need more food for energy. Good luck.

Let a doctor do some blood work.
Might be your B12 is too low, or your Hb.
    Have that checked.
Also one persons reaction to the overall anesthesia can be totally different than another persons.
    Talk to your doctor.
English is not my first language anymore, so I may and do make mistakes in my spelling, or say things oddly. Please ask me, if you want any clarifications.

Are you logging your food to make sure you are eating what you say are? I used to think I was getting enough protein and water, but after I started logging I realized I was short all around.

I am not interested in just knowing my macros, I want to make sure I am getting the right nutrients. Supplementation is really important at this juncture too and for the rest of your life.

I remember feeling really energized the first month out, then I crashed and it took me almost four months to be back to my normal energy levels.

I recommend to take as many naps as needed or as many your life commitments allow. Rest is going to best medicine for your recovery right now.

Make sure you are chewing chewing chewing and chewing. Nutrient absorption starts at the moment you put food in your mouth, chewing creates the enzymes that are in your saliva that helps break down food. Even chew your liquids.

Someone mentioned to me to watch for sodium and after I started logging religiously I noticed my sodium levels were very low, adding a little salt helped with sluggish feelings. Also, getting complex carbs will help with tiredness and foggy feelings. If you have access to a Bariatric nutritionist even better.

Some Complex carbs also are rich in protein like beans and lentils. Try nut almond butter. Mashed avocado or sweet potatoes. Crushed berries. Take a table spoon of MCT coconut oil or code liver oil. These will help absorb nutrients.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm doing all the things I should -Yes, I weight food.

I called the doctors office this morning, the nurse just called me back and said well when you come in for your 3 months visit we will talk about it. That's 5 weeks away. If I was the doctor I would say come in and lets do some bloodwork and find out what's wrong. I'm too exhausted to move.

It's hard to believe with all the things I'm doing right, I feel so wrong.

Vitamins. At your phase you cannot get enough vitamins and nutrients in. I would suggest vitamin B12 first as foremost. It helps with energy. I also take a multi vitamin, calcium citrate, D3, and biotin. That is my daily regimen. I take high potency Magnesium for constipation.

B12 is your best bet. It is a very common deficiency post op. Get the dissolvable pills or sublingual.

How much weight have you lost? May not be getting enough protein for how much exercise you are doing. You are exercising a lot for your calorie intake.

Call the doc office back and be more firm with the nurse. Tell her you want to talk to the doc by phone or in person. Labs is a good idea, might call your GP and see if they can order them for you if no luck with gastric doc. When you do talk to gastric doc let him/her know about nurse blowing you off.
