so has any one been the type to throw up violently! I have had the stomach flu and threw up so hard that I would start spitting out blood and have blown out blood vessels in my eyes! will I throw up the same way postop. concerned that this could be bad,

When you go for your first consult you can mention this to the doctor. Most people on here say that if you throw up after surgery (which I haven't yet 4 days out) the throw up is more like a spit up since you only have liquid in you. It shouldn't be violent like when you have a virus or food-born illness

I rarely got sick post op. When I did get sick from overeating it was not a violent puking. A lot of hot saliva, some foamy puking, a little food. Nothing too bad.

Definitely discuss this issue with your Bariatric surgeon.

The only time I actually threw up was because I took medicine on an empty stomach. It felt like morning sickness to me. I did have the same reaction that Christie described after taking a bite too much on several occasions.

I haven't thrown up although I came close several times. Each time it was due to overeating/eating too fast. Just be careful and you should be fine.
