Hi Tim, In the scheme of things this is a pretty safe surgery but all surgery has risks. You must be sure that you know all of the risks and are well informed. but like I say it is a pretty safe surgery. It is normal to feel nervous before surgery, especially if you haven't had any surgery before but it is also worth thinking about the improvements it will make to your life and health. What are you most afraid of?

    Hi Tim,

I was sleepless for days before my surgery, like for any surgery. It's normal to be stressed! But I had all the exams done, did my diet and I knew it was my last chance to get back to a more "normal" life, without constant pain. My health was getting worth each year.

The post op was not a walk in the park mainly because I always get sick with anesthesia but I never regretted my decision, even when it was hard. The result is so worth it!! My health is so much better today, my life is transformed!

How much do you have to lose?
I tried for more than 20 years every diet under the sun and nothing worked long term. It was from my research my "last chance" to get out of the red zone. And it worked. Because for most morbidly obese patient, bariatric surgery is the only way to get a permanent result. Numbers are clear...

Do your research, follow your guideline/diet. If you have questions talk to your surgeon or ask questions here.

Today my only regret is to not have done it sooner.

    Take care and good luck!

Thumbs up Re: 2weeks to surgery date

Hi Tim, I know it’s scary to go through surgery especially since you have never had one. This is a great first surgery. I’ve had many surgeries over the years and I was nervous and had second thoughts. Mostly because I was going out of the country for the first time for surgery and their were unknows in my mind. I had amazing care and this was one of the easiest surgeries I’ve gone through. Pain diminished a lot after just two days. Walking will be your friend. If your ready to make the necessary changes to your diet and start exercising this surgery is for you. It will transform your life and may even save it. It did for me. I got rid of the diabetes, sleep apnea, fatty liver, high B/P, got off 7 meds, decreased my pain. Went from barely climbing stairs to climbing mountains in one year. Best decision I’ve ever made!!! I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in years. Only regret I have is waiting so long. Happy to answer any questions954038F7-6A69-4485-92D6-2E857279BA40.jpegB0545D92-D9C6-4534-A38C-66BBCD761EFA.jpeg

Mostly of the unknown. All the horror stories of people that throw up,every time they try to eat, all,the people that have not lost weight. Mostly just afraid that I won't be Able to eat.

Overall my recovery was really easy. I never got sick unless I really overate and that was rare. If I did overeat I might just feel queasy for a bit. This is the best decision I could have ever made for myself. I look and feel fabulous. I can eat pretty much anything I want but in much smaller quantities. Although now that I am nearing 2 years post op (November) I eat a more normalish looking portion. Still not huge but not like a bird either. I only have one regret and that was waiting so long to take the plunge. I can tell you that this surgery has a low complication rate which is why I chose it.

Was wondering. My dr says Liquid diet week before. Which will be next week, any suggestions on how to survive this, And in general. What does everyone eat for breakfast, lunch , supper. After you are on solid food. I generally take my lunch to work. And my wife is worried about what to cook We pretty much eat fried foods now. She works to and is tired when she gets home so is a little worried what to fix so we can eat together

Welcome! Everyone gets the jitters before a life change, but at 65 (last year) I did this and best thing I've done in ever so long!
