Default Just about 9 months in...

Crikey... doesn't the time fly! I am going to be nine months post op in about a week. I went for a check up today with my surgeon, I go every 3 months. He said I was a perfect patient (apart from the fact that I'm a midwife... docs are such jokers!!) and said just to up my vitamin d and zinc. Everything else was super.
For anyone reading who doesn't know me... I got to my goal weight of 60kg in 7 months. I have dipped a bit below now but I'm on it and trying to spend a bit more time sitting down eating. I do a lot of crossfit and weight sessions so I am hanging onto my muscle! I used to run half marathons but I gave up running to concentrate on the gym because I didn't want to become too whippity and run off my muscle. I am known to pop out for the odd 5k though as I do like to run on vacations.
My recovery really was a dream. I mean I did complain a lot about tiredness in the first 6 weeks and then it was plain sailing. I am a really positive person and I think that really helps with this journey. I don't think it's helpful to make a drama over things, but I have probably had the odd moment!
This message board has been extremely useful to me and I would urge that if you are new you should stick around for the long haul. It's really useful to people to hear from others who are much further along. You might get some tough love sometimes. Ain't nothing wrong with that, people are just trying to help you. Ask more questions and stay positive!
Something else that I think can be really helpful is to exercise as you lose. You really will look better than if you don't. Some people can't though due to disabilities or other things and that's okay, you quality of life will still be much better than before the surgery.
Overall it was a fabulous decision and now one of my best friends just had her surgery last week so I can be helpful to her.
This is a pic taken the other night. I'm pretty happy with life :-)

Edie, "inspiration" really is the word that best describes you! You are inspiring.

And, as you noted, you're also wonderfully positive. I totally agree with you that a positive attitude as we go through this scary (at first), weird (continues for a while) journey is a huge advantage.

Yes, I know that everybody isn't blessed with Edie's bright, optimistic outlook on life. But if you're not, just read her posts here and try to soak up her sunshine.

    Edie, you're a star! And you have helped so many people here. R E S P E C T !
