Default It feels like nothing is happening!

I'm almost 5 months post surgery and I have lost 85 pounds. (31 pre surgery and 54 post surgery). there has not been any weight change in the last 3 weeks. Is it normal to plateau for a while and then loose more? I have at least 100 more pounds to loose. I feel much better and moving around is easier but I want so much more from this life change.

Champion 1, I am plateauing at 4 months, have not budged in about 3 weeks as well. I do know the reason why though...I changed what I was eating to include some carbs and had increased my calorie consumption to about 2-3 hundred calories as directed by my nutritionist at my 3 month check in. I just did a re-evaluation of what I really have been eating as it can be a slippery slope for sure. I just came off a 10 day vacation so I was eating things like ice cream, nibbling on snacks and eating out a lot. Mind you, it wasn't a whole heck of a lot of food, but it was extra and that is why I haven't lost at all. Mystery solved! So, my plan going forward; I made a menu of back to basics and am going to follow the plan I was previously on at the three month mark. I really truly feel that I am still in the golden weight loss phase of the first six months and I don't want to screw it up. I was given this special tool to work with to get to my goal. I am trying to appreciate my successes and hold onto the core values to get me to where I need to go. Good luck to you going forward, take a look at what you are eating and try to see what is different to when you were losing steadily and I hope you succeed in this unique first year.

Stalls are completely normal, we don't loose all the same way or at the same speed.

I took me 2 years to reach my surgeon's prediction and I was following my guidelines, but I'm just a slow looser.(many health issues)

Just look back at what you lost and give yourself a good pat on the back because you deserve it. Loosing is hard, but don't look at a stall like a failure, it's just the body needing time to readjust, that's all. Stay focused, success will smile at those who are persistent. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon! You will face set backs, but just continue to stay focused, your health depend on it.

    Take care!

Thanks for the encouragement. As of this point I have not been exercising. My job is very active and by the time I get done I go home a I'm tiered. As I'm losing weight I find that I am having more energy and I defiantly plan to start exercising as my energy increases. I reached my goal of 10,000 steps for the first time last week and my feet are hurting less each week.

Congratulations on loosing 85lbs. Stalls are complete normal but happen for different reasons. I’d like to try to help you start loosing again. I need to ask you a couple of questions. First what is your exercise like and two what is your food intake like? Sometimes people aren’t consuming enough protein/calories for the amount of exercise and sometimes people aren’t exercising enough. Sometimes it’s just about bumbing up protein alone.

You may find exercising makes you less tired! That was the case for me.

Adding some fitness to your routine will jump start your loss again, also take your measurements as I would bet you're losing inches when you're not seeing the pounds drop. It's something I mention to lots of our patients and it has been the case for many. You're doing great and I wish you continued success!

Totally normal. Also, sometimes when you stall it is time to up your calories a bit. That always helped me. Sounds funny but it is true. You can eat too little.
