    Question Post OP 9 days

Hi everyone. I am a recent gastric sleeve patient. I am post op 9 days now. Everyday gets a little better. It was very painful in the beginning. I had to get 8 incisions instead of 5 due to alot of scar tissue from an abdominal surgery years ago. Today I met up with a friend who is unaware of my surgery. Since I am on liquids right now, I was happy to drink on of her snapple diet teas. After I had drank it, she informed me she had spiked the tea with one nip of raspberry vodka. I feel ok. I had no idea. Should I be concerned? Did I harm anything? I strictly follow my diet and this speedbump was very unexpected.

Just think of it as antiseptic!!! Not much you can do now except make your own tea in future ;-)

My stomach was extremely sensitive post-sleeve, any kind of alcohol made me really sick, and same story, I was not trying to drink (was waiting for the one year mark) but had some alcohol hidden in a sauce during a diner out, but I was probably 4 or 5 months out. I was sick withing minutes. So don't worry, you are fine, just make sure it doesn't happen again. Alcohol is sugar. And as my surgeon said "fake sugar have real bad side effects" I always believed that it was better to have a little tiny amount of real sugar and avoid all chemicals, I'm actually allergic to some of those "0 calorie sweeteners".

Congratulations on your sleeve - and your friend was way out of line, whether they were aware of your sleeve or not. Bring or order your own beverage with this person.....

Sounds like you are on the right track!

Nah. You will be fine. I am sure. Obviously do not go and keep drinking now. LOL. Congrats on your sleeve!

Glad to hear you are doing well. Your friend should have told you. That wasn't very nice what she did but of course most people aren't aware of the importance of what we put into our bodies. Sounds like you got past it ok so I certainly wouldn't worry about it now.
