    Default Dumping syndrome

    Hi all!

I have a question. I' m 9 months out and I know technically with the sleeve, you're not supposed to have "dumping syndrome" that that's more related with bypass. But, there have been two times where I have been bad (a few bites of fried food paired with alcohol) and got sick as a dog. I'm talking shaking, sweating profusely, feeling like I'm going to vomit and die. I'll even be sick the next day.

I'm glad it's happened as I will never have another bite of fried food or a sugary alcoholic drink as long as I live. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced something similar to this?

Cheesecake is my kryptonite food. It's the one which makes me sick if I eat more than 6 or 7 bites. I didn't go as far as you did to say I'm never going to have it again but I now know my limit is just a bite and then I'm done.

I don't think what I felt was the same as dumping. I feel what seems like motion drunk sickness and I have to sit or lie down until it passes. I'm usually okay in a couple of hours. I think it's a combination of carbs/sugar and the density of cheesecake.

I seem to get it on the "other end" when I consume something with too much sugar. I have had a few episodes of lower intestinal discomfort when I drank a couple of little bottles of Gatorade during and after mowing the lawn. If I drink just one, I normally don't have any issues, but one really hot day, when I was out in the heat for three or four hours, I drank two over the course of the day and paid for it later.

Hmmmm hmmmm.... I did have a rather unfortunate experience in a bar bathroom after some pinot Grigio, now I just stick to red occasionally. IT'S NOT FUN IS IT?!!!! :-S

I've had some episodes similar to that while hiking. The doctor said it's related to blood sugar, even though I am not diabetic. I was told to have a small carb/protein snack before working out and it hasn't happened again.

Or it could just be the food combination. Fried food still doesn't agree with me much, and I do love chicken tenders.

    I don't think it's dumping syndrome.

Yes, different combinations have caused me to "dump" -- and they tend to be anything sugary, and certainly fatty foods. If I have wine, I drink 1/2 glass very slowly. If I have something "fried", about 3 small, well chewed bites. But as Sharon said, blood sugar drops post sleeve are a known thing. So you just sort of balance your way through. I'm at 9 months out (heading towards 10) and most days things are pretty good

I had it happen 2 or 3 times in the first few months and not since then.
