    Default Post op frustration

Sorry but i have to vent, i'm getting bored and frustrated with the post op restrictions. I so badly want food that has texture. Tired of soups, puddings and popsicles!! Its about all i've had for almost three weeks. I want a soft taco or even a bite of pizza, or a sip of a fountain drink!! Im happy with my decision but i feel as i want to fastforward so i can put real food in my mouth!! Heck i'd be happy with Tuna salad and crackers, just want something CRUNCHY!!

    OK, I feel better now.

I feel ya. I'm on clears with protein shakes for three full weeks. I asked the MD yesterday why so long... He said that he believes that the longer the stomach has to heal the less likely you are to have complications such as leak.. I see so many people eat food so quick on here and feel a little jealous

But I say this too shall pass. And if you really think about it I'm sure there is more weight loss doing it this way.

I too want to chew and swallow something!!! Sounds funny right

    Stay strong!

I had to do liquids for 2 weeks. Saw my Dr on Day 15 and he said I can have ANYTHING I wanted and could eat, I jokingly said even steak, he said sure why not if you can tolerate it eat it. (3 weeks out 1 oz of a filet well chewed went down very nicely) I tried a lot of things that didn't quite work for me yet but in time I was able to eat pretty much anything. Mind you, my diet is made up mostly of protein and a little bit of fruits and veggies, I avoid carbs and starches.

For a first step food I recommend soup, scrambled eggs, sugar free pudding, yogurt but if you want crunchy maybe a saltine cracker. I know it doesn't sound like much but when you start eating anything solid everything feels like a huge serving, I still don't eat more than 4 oz at a time.

(Disclaimer) The above is what my Dr recommended for me, you should follow what your Dr recommends for you.

My post op transition diet is 8 weeks long and its not until about week 5 or 6 that i can have anything substantial! I just dont see why its so drawn out. Add stuff every 3-5 days and if its not a problem then move on to the next stage! This week i get to add eggs, now isnt that exciting!!
