    Smile 1 Week Post-Op Tomorrow

    Hi everyone,
This is my first post since surgery on 7/3/18. I have to say the journey has been interesting, the surgery and recovery so far has been easier than i had anticipated. The pain has been controlled, so far very little nausea. I guess at this point my biggest concern is that i lost 6 pounds on the 5 day pre-op diet but as of this morning i have not lost anything. I know this is temporary but it's playing with my mind, what am i doing wrong, what if i self-payed for this surgery and it is a fail. Just a few of my thoughts. I am thankful i found this site, i see the support you have for each other, i hope i can be a supporter also as i continue this journey. I wish all the newbies well on their individual journeys, and thank you to the ones that have had great success and share with the rest of us! Have a great night ya'll!

You just had surgery and your body was filled with tons of fluids with your IV. It will take a little while for that all to escape your system. Hang in there you have done nothing wrong, you will start to lose very soon give it time. Each person is different after having surgery so always remember that just because so and so lost 20 pounds in two weeks doesn't mean you will.

The good news is........you will start losing very soon and you will feel wonderful and realize you made the best decision of your life!! hang in there!!

STOP THOSE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS! No one loses at first, you just got out of the hospital pumped up with IV fluids. Hide your scale now. Really. Get it out in a month or so. Just follow the program, it works, I promise. Get back to me in 6 months. And get excited, not whiney. (No offense, but a positive attitude will take you beyond your wildest dreams.). You will be so thrilled with your new healthy life, and it happens in a blink of an eye.

I echo what Susan said -- hide the scales! The fluid retention is a phantom weight - it will disappear as your body gets itself back to balance. I was self pay, so I hear you -- I look at the price per pound and sheesh! But oh my it was so worth it (I'm 9 months out).

I agree with all the above. Positive thoughts go a long way to help you and your body get used to the new you!
My surgery was my decision. I was self pay. I knew that I had to make it work so that I could live a long and healthy life. I followed all the pre op instructions perfectly, was relaxed about the actual surgery (I had never had a general anesthetic before - boy, are they a miracle!), and have been very strict with the post op transition into what is now my "normal" way of eating. I have now reached my first weight goal ( -54kg 10 months out) and am working towards my next.
If you can get your head around the fact that this tool does work but remember that you also have to work at it then you will be just fine.
Positive thoughts - upwards and onwards!
    You can do this :-)

Hang in there. You will start losing before you know it. I did not lose...I think I actually gained a bit first from the fluids and I just knew I was going to be the one who the sleeve would not work for. Fast forward 19 months and I am maintaining my weight loss and living a happy, healthy life. I was able to lose all my excess weight in 10 months.
