I know I know Plateau

I've read about the plateau but of course hoped it wouldn't happen to me. My weight hasn't budged in a week and it's making me crazy. I stopped weighing for a few days and then did and it was the same number!!!! AAAAHHH! I didn't do this to lose 1/3 of the weight! How long does this thing last?

You've hit the dreaded 3 week stall. It happens to a lot of people. Keep getting your protein and water and you'll break it.

I too am heading to my 10th day of a stall, only 6 wks in. I feel ur pain. I have no useful advice, just wanted to let you know your not alone x

Mine started the day I had to go in and get IV fluids which was only 2 weeks in. I knew the water weight would account for some of it but then it never went away!

It happens, makes no sense but it happens. I suggest you hide your scale and get it out in a month. No need to get frustrated, just keep on doing what you are doing and you'll be great!

I'm serious. Hide it!! Better yet have a family member hide it.

Thanks everyone, helps to know it's a normal thing and happens to probably everyone. I was just really looking forward to that first month drastic weight loss. 17 lbs is pretty drastic but you know, you always want more. I have an event to go to on the 20th and was really looking forward to the "shock and awe"! Right now, people are noticing I think but not saying anything cause they're not really sure what's different or something.

Your body seeks equilibrium -- it craves the balance. It thinks it is "saving" you. It will adjust (it will, it will).

I found when I waw not losing lbs, I was losing inches. So once a week, I did measurements. It really helped my focus. But yes, the "stuck" feeling felt a lot like failure. And the only way we fail is to stop!

I meant to do measurements from the get go but never got around to it. Plus I wasn't a huge fan of seeing myself naked, ever, even a bit. So I procrastinated and never did it. It's a good idea though, so maybe I'll do it tonight!

Very, very few people do not stall at all. The notorious 3 week stall usually occurs between weeks 2-5 with the most common being week 3, hence the name. It happened to me in week 2....which was so devastating and made me think I was going to be a failure. I really did. And here I am just killing it in maintenance without a care in the world. I lost all my weight in about 10 months. You will start losing again and then eventually it will slow down and you will only lose a lb or two every 7-14 days and people start freaking out again. But really....it is working and you are losing in a healthy way at that point. Just stay the course and follow the rules and you will be successful. The choice is yours. Do not let stalls or slow downs unhinge you and make you binge on crap foods.

I've been wondering if what I'm eating is having an effect on the plateau. I couldn't binge if I wanted to. I can only take about 3 bites of something before I know I couldn't fit anymore in. I've added soft foods but it's basically been limited to cottage cheese, soups and protein shakes.

I just hit my first plateau at 2 1/2 months. I got down to 170 pounds and then in 3 weeks gained back up to 173! Because of what I had read on here, I stayed my course and this morning I weighed 169! It'll happen....it's frustrating, but you just gotta trust that it'll happen

I took my measurements today, which meant I had to weigh myself again. It finally moved! Down another .6 oz. I'll take it! From now on, I'll weigh/measure on Mondays.
