Well, I'm at 47 days post op and I couldn't be more pleased with my decision to be sleeved! I feel fantastic; lots of energy. I have been very blessed through my recovery; getting fluids in since day 1, no issues with protein shakes when added & breezed through puree...my favorites were puree buffalo chicken salad, ricotta bake, & scrambled eggs. Soft foods went well too; able to tolerate ground turkey, lean deli meats, moist cooked chicken breast. On a regular diet for a few weeks now and still have not encountered anything that does not agree with my stomach. The only issues I've had with food are a few times (4 to be exact) where I just did not chew enough or ate too fast and got the foamies or the food came back up. I'd say for nearly 7 weeks, that's doing pretty good!
One of the biggest things I've noticed is that I sleep better at night and don't have to snooze multiple times before dragging myself out of bed. I get up when the alarm goes off and get my day started.
Strangest thing that happened so far was being told by my Nutritionist that I was working out too much (cardio). She was absolutely right though....I had stalled a bit, but when I backed off a bit on the cardio, I started losing again pretty steadily.
I am now 44 pounds down since the morning of surgery and 80 pounds down from my highest weight. I feel great and am managing this new lifestyle really well. I'm very much a 'rule follower' so I've been following my program to a 'T'. Speaking of 'T', a local store had T-bone Steak on sale and I grilled one up this past week, tolerating it well.....and it was the best meal I've had postop!
All this to say....not everyone has a horrible time of it. I have read a lot of horror stories online, in FB groups and was terrified preop. So much so that I was ready to cancel my procedure. Finally about 2-weeks preop I just got off all those social media places and moved forward with what I was hoping would be a good decision. I can say at this point, I am elated with my decision and have no regrets. I hope I still feel this way when I hit some stalls and maybe start to lose some hair....but for now, I'm happy with the way I feel, starting to see the changes in the way I look and wouldn't change this for anything.
